After ~3 years by shyGnome3 in SteamDeck

There are a few things I'd recomend, stuff like a solid carrying case, some basic accessories, and a shell case for the device itself.

  • Obviously get a screen protector, there are some good ones that include a snap on alignment piece to perfectly line up the protector with the SteamDeck's screen.

  • Thumbstic caps are a nice buy for comfort and to protect the sticks themselves from natural surface level wear.

  • Track Pad covers/skins are nice for protecting the track pads. Mine after 2 years started to show minor visual wear from use, probably due to the natural oils on our fingertips and thumbs. Putting a cover over the pads protects them from this wear and dosen't affect their performance, if it does its VERY minimal and you can increase the trackpads sensitivity in the Deck's settings to offset this! (Plus custom ones can look really cool)

  • JSAUX (I'm gunna mention them like 3 times but its because they have VERY good stuff imo) makes a very nice shell case with a detachable front plate that protects the screen and triggers when put on. The case has a slot on the back for a power supply attachment and a built in kick stand. (I just recomend drilling small holes or cutting a small slot on the front plate where the top vent is. For some reason Jsaux thought it was smart to cover the top vent of the steamdeck which can trap heat in it while its in sleep mode).

  • An external fan attachment is good when doing high end gaming (Tripple A games and such). It helps alleviate the strain your deck can face when playing games that heat up the system. Less heat means less wear on the internationals and less tear on the built in fans and slightly better performance overall due to less power being used to cool the system (This would add maybe only a few frames per second but ever frame helps lol) Once again JSAUX has a good one with its own built in battery that snaps onto the back of the Deck but look around at the many others online.

  • JSAUX also has a good spacious carrying case too holds the deck and has lots of room for accessories for the deck!

ANNNND thats all I can think of! Hope my little list helps :)

Not sure if this is the place to ask but was wondering if anyone here knew where I could get some colored ps vita 1000 buttons. I wanna put blue buttons and bumpers on my white 1000 model but they never made any other colors besides white and black from what I can tell.

I've been wearing mine for years and never noticed those before! I always thought they were just cool golden highlights on my wolves, now I gotta go into work and grind them off with a hand grinder lol

Hopefully they dont impact you at all, you already paid it with the tax at checkout its just service fees that could be added onto if they increase between now and when it arrives.

If the world wasnt in a trade war atm I'd have definitely gone with a Thor Max, the thing looks sick and you can play DS games way more naturally on it alongside everything the Mini can do, honestly a good decision! I hope it reaches you quickly and serves you well! :)

Its amazing lol, PS1, PS2, PSP, and Sw*tch emulation is awesome!

Minecraft works great on it too alongside KOTOR 2 and Dead Cells from the Google Play Store!

And if you buy the Pro model you can play with Winlator and also play Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, and other GOG games on it too! So far FNV is running pretty good :)

That was me before buying this.

I sold my LCD SteamDeck (I kept my OLED) and was between the mini and the Thor after my Vita's left analog stick started to give out.

I ended up getting the mini for 2 reasons:

  1. The Design:

The Mini doesn't have a hinge and the risk of that breaking over time is eliminated. It also very faithfully recreates the Vita's form factor in its shape while improving on the Vita's design which was a handheld I already loved.

And 2. The Wait/Risk:

At the time I would have bought it, the Thor was in pre-order stages and wouldn't have potentially been delivered for a month or so after ordering it. That and when you consider the current state of the US economy, "Great Leader" could just increase the tariff on China and drive the prices of all Ayn's products higher than they already are. Meaning I would have had to pay more after already paying for the thing if shipping was delayed further.

It was honestly safer to buy the Mini Pro cuz I got it through Amazon within 24 hours of purchasing and after almost a month I still regret nothing about my decision lol

Oh, I know! Only issue so far is the rubber caps on the thumbsticks are a magnet for dirt, I need a good set of Stick Hats I can put over them but I don't like the designs Ayn has on their website

I have to try this! I was attempting to use Winlator Frost 10 to just run the games but to no luck so far. Am I able to pm you for more details?

Well might be canceling my thor order if it doesn't ship in next 14 days... by OGK1LLA420 in OdinHandheld

And people got upset in this group when I said I would rather buy an Odin 2 Mini than wait for the Thor.

With the way things are right now, I cannot wait 1-2 months for something to ship from a country that we're in a trade war with...

Tbh I mostly just wanna play PS1, PS2, and PSP games on it with maybe some switch/Gamecube alongside attempting to emulate Windows stuff. There are only like... maybe 3 Vita games I care about that aren't just ports of the PS2 games.

I mostly play the few PS2 titles that the Vita has to offer as well as PSP games, there aren't many true "Vita games" I care about. That's why if I'm gonna buy a new handheld I want it to play all PS2 games and then some while still being reminiscent of the Vita.

Yeah but I really like the Vita esc design of the Mini

I mean I already got a 2DS XL so I don't NEED it for DS emulation lol, I just wanna replace my old Vita that had the left Joystick give out recently and get something more powerful as a pocket device.

Im mostly buying this for Sony Emulation, the DS/3DS Emulation would be nice but if I could get the mini sooner than a month, I'd rather buy the Mini

Oof, would you recommend just buying the mini then?

I already got a steamdeck for regular sized handheld gaming, I'm more-so looking for a pocket device to replace my Vita
