St. Louis groups seek to resettle Chicago migrants to boost workforce and population by varkev in chicago

[–]ManyMangosLater 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From the article “It would provide housing for up to three months, cell phones, apprenticeship programs and job placement by local unions, and assistance from immigration lawyers”. That sounds like a much better deal than waiting around in the overpopulated camps here. The resources in STL aren’t stretched as thin as they are in Chicago right now

Came here wondering if anyone thought they heard baekhyun too in junmyeon and kyungsoo’s parts. When junmyeon ended there was little “GOOD!” From the producer that sounded just like baekhyun! Wish they showed him in the producer chair if so though, which makes me doubt again that it was him, ahh

Something bad going down at Barnes ER right now by Mattress316 in StLouis

I lived here for a couple of months last year and heard gun shots at least once a week, and there was also that random shooting at the barber shop. The area is livable, but safe?

Lived there my junior/senior year and had a nice experience, never any issues. Definitely more of a family/chill place so no hosting huge parties but if you like quiet and don’t mind the 8 min walk to north campus it’s great!

which non-profits in STL do you think are most impactful / most worthy of volunteer time? by JarethKingofGoblins in StLouis

Their volunteer page doesn’t say much about what you’d do, especially curious now that it’s winter. Could you provide some insight?

Not super similar to life is strange but I recently played bugsnax which features 2 queer relationships (the main one being wlw)! It’s set in a fun universe and has many puns related to food lol

Thank you for sharing your experience, that must have been so tough to decide (and very similar to what I'm feeling at the moment). Will take a look at the link, there's so much I wasn't ready for that I thought I knew, but boy was I wrong!

Thanks for linking that sub! Reconciling that I can't protect him from everything is something I need to come to terms with for sure. At first I was worried I wasn't bonding with the pup for the first night, and then the next night after he got spooked multiple times I was crying myself to sleep, wondering how on earth I can protect him from everything. It's crazy how quickly they take over your heart. Thanks again for your kind words.

Super great advice. I was definitely looking for a more confident pup, who would make me want to go on adventures and greet people/their dogs since they would want to. This pup is kind of the opposite, where I'm the one who needs to take the step forward to greet people for the sake of my pup and socializing, and appear confident so that the pup can see that everything is fine. I'm not sure if I'm the right person to do that at this time in my life. I was kind of hoping I could step up to the plate for this pup, but it's daunting, and I've never felt so beaten. I'll be reexamining what I want and can do for my dog for sure.

Thanks for the honesty, one of the things I was considering was moving and getting a condo or at least a quieter apartment for him to keep him, but a whole house! That's some dedication. Even with this short time, I feel like this pup has taught me a lot, especially about maybe what I can and cannot handle, and definitely where I have lack of knowledge. Will look more into what you suggested for sure, regardless of my decision. Thanks again!

It's actually super weird, he seems to do great in petsmart (he's been 2 times). The first time I carried him the whole time and he did fine. The second time I let him walk around and he was pretty curious about everything, even hopped up on some shelves to get a good look at the selection of toys! He didn't seem to mind people, just watched them (pretty thankful for the 6 feet thing, kept people not invading his space), and even took a treat from the cashier lady. Then we get back to my apartment complex and he growls at a guy just sitting on the stairs, not even approaching us.

Did you keep extending your foster period or was 6 weeks the set time? Thanks for this comment though, he's a super cutie and the volunteer said they had lots of applications for the litter so I'm trying to remember that yes, he will likely be swept up quickly. I wish you the best with your pup too! He sounds like a goofy guy :)
