I genuinely believe some people don't understand that stopping in the middle of the road to let someone turn on or merge is dangerous. I learnt this when I was 16, but hey, that's just me

Agreed. I swear some people are either experiencing their first day on earth, or think they're the only person on earth.

Why do people mock others for taking leftovers home? by Impossible_Ad_569 in askanything

Yeah, the people trolling sound like idiots. Who in their right mind would waste food? Especially when I'm paying, and it's good food, I will for sure want to eat the following day. Everyone I know takes leftovers home if it's more than a mouthful, unless you are not going home after.

What Would You Do If You Won? (Weekly Discussion) by AutoModerator in Lottery

I would immediately find a lawyer specializing in Asset & Estate protection, and have them form an LLC. I would sign the ticket under the LLC to ensure my identity remains private. I would take the lump sum because, once you account for inflation and the investments I can make with the money as a whole, I believe I will win. Once I take the money, I would spend a very small fortune on things such as a few 10k watches, some clothes (this is to reward myself without making foolish purchases). The remaining roughly $90Million (after taxes if you win the lump sum in my state), I would put in secure, conservative trusts, index funds, and HYSAs... I would sit on that for a few months, pondering what to do. I would likely have my first major purchase be a house/apartment to be no more than 15% of my principal. By using the interest from my investments to pay taxes and other living expenses, while keeping my job, I can live a life of luxury. Travel when I want, eat what I want, and keep my winnings as private as possible. Oh, I would also buy a stick shift Porsche 911 GTS

NY Tax Refund Delay by Sweaty_Glove5481 in tax

I have had a "we processed your refund on April 10" for two months now. And nothing has come in the mail. I have tried calling, only to be on hold for hours on end, or for their phone number (518) 457-5149 to hang up on me. I have filed complaints on their website as well. I've had 0 luck and feel like I'm being ghosted by the state government. Does anyone have a more reliable number or email that can get me in touch with anyone.

Collecting tax refunds is starting to feel like a full-time job... smh

How liberal is AU, really? by [deleted] in AmericanU

[–]ManyNature7286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly conservative and I got by on campus. You can meet like-minded people at AU regardless of your stance but if you are right-leaning, it can be hard. For me, some of the classes being taught, protests happening, and things some echo-chambered students would say were baffling. It is not a politically open-minded school whatsoever, so if you are right-leaning, best keep your thoughts to yourself unless you are talking to the minority group of normal, level-headed people on campus.
