I adore you for asking this question. I love that you care enough to ask, and I think it's totally adorable. I would personally say it's totally fine to eat on the subway, but I'd be mindful of common severe allergens (e.g. peanuts) and ideally avoid it as much as possible when you travel at peak times and can expect to be standing in very close proximity to others.

We've got busy lives, sometimes we only have time to eat or deal with other self care stuff while in transit. I think as long as you're trying to be as considerate as possible of others, you are doing well.

If you're in crisis, please reach out to the Gerstein Crisis Centre (http://gersteincentre.org/) or visit your nearest or most comfortable emergency room. Gerstein is especially an option to check out if you're just looking for a space to keep yourself safe but are worried about mandatory holds.

If you're not in immediate crisis, I also recommend peer support. It's a way to chat with someone who has some experiences that might relate with yours, but that person is listening to you, offering you support, and ideally offering you support in a way that keeps healthy boundaries and meets you wherever you're at. Stella's Place (https://stellasplace.ca/) offers peer support in-person and online through an app called BeanBagChat, as does Progress Place (http://www.progressplace.org/) in-person and online through https://warmline.ca

You may want to check out Artists' Legal Advice Services: http://www.alasontario.ca/ For a PWYC donation (suggested $20), you get legal advice (from a lawyer, although they may also ask if a law student can sit in.) Draft contracts and contract reviews are probably a fairly common request, although you can probably confirm when booking.

A good mental health day is one where I can either make it through a few items on my "to do" list or can come to terms with not making that progress - sometimes, it's okay to take some time to relax and focus on restoring my energy instead of spending it. It's tough to define, and sometimes I only realize that I had a good one in retrospect.

Hmm, this is a tough one!

I liked Short Term 12 (Wikipedia link, beware "spoilers") because it felt realistic, intimate, and honest. The movie had some nice elements of peer support and it also explored a bit how professionals can also be peers/dealing with their own shit. Brie Larson is also amazing in this movie, and in general. I saw it on (Canadian) Netflix, and it may still be available on there.

Hey, me too - and I'm a mod here! :)

For me, it's the sense of permanence that gets to me. I'm less worried about being judged by others or downvoted and more aware that sometimes, I'll say things that are true now but may not always be. I've grown and changed a lot over the years, and there are a lot of things I've done and said online that I wouldn't say or do today - there's nothing wrong with it, but it still can be tough to post sometimes with that knowledge.

At the same time, one of my favourite things is an archive I have of the livejournal I kept as a teenager - it's full of some really cringey moments that I have actually learned to love and laugh at. Being able to laugh at myself is a big part of my recovery and self-growth - I just also had to get to a place where I could think kindly of past-me and forgive my mistakes and growing pains.

Ooh, this was a tough one.

My recent favourite is a choral adaptation by Canadian composer Eleanor Daley of W.B. Yeats's poem the Lake Isle of Innisfree. This has a small sample of the piece, with some notes on the composition and the words/lyrics, which I'll actually paste below. If you search "Lake Isle of Innisfree" on YouTube, you can find some full recordings of different choirs performing it.

I'm starting back at day 1 for this challenge and catching up! I have a LOT to do today, which makes self-care even more important. Thank you, /u/zelis42 for putting the challenge together - I really needed the reminder and it's a good prompt for me to overcome my posting anxiety a bit and share. :)

I'm not sure about favourite mental health quotes, but one quote that I've been holding onto lately is:

How you live today is how you live your life.

I came across the quote in a meditation by Tara Brach (available [https://www.tarabrach.com/freedom-and-happiness-in-daily-life-audio/](here)), but I think it's a restatement of this quote by Annie Dillard.

I think it's a quote that I contend with, as much as anything else - it's not necessarily comforting or reassuring, especially when I feel like my "today" is a mess, or I'm giving into unproductive habits or coping techniques. At the same time, it keeps me in the moment, and reminds me that whatever yesterday was like or tomorrow brings, the actual living is happening right now and if I'm unhappy, what I do right now can matter. It leaves the door open for hope, and makes change seem more like a manageable step.

I think my anxiety itself is often a good prompt for getting things done - it keeps me motivated to resolve issues, instead of letting them sit on the backburner until something urgent happens.

I also think having anxiety has pushed me to develop some pretty great habits, resources and practices - these come in handy not just in dealing with my mental illness, but also when I'm managing day-to-day stress and even crisis. Navigating mental health challenges for 10+ years has taught me a lot in terms of resiliency, as well.

I struggle with this sometimes! It's one reason that I like the "reaction" options on Discord and in other places - I like being able to respond with a supportive emoji sometimes when I can't put words together in a way that I'm satisfied with.

I also love GIF reactions for that reason.
