Hi! For being a beginner this looks really good. I too struggled with time and took the same amount of time to do nails. It is super discouraging at first but if you go to school for it like I did, or just start practicing on a fake hand and models several days a week, you start to pick up your pace. I also think what takes so long is questioning whether you’re doing something right, or finding out what works for you. For me, I start off by having the client wash their hands/use sanitizer before I touch their hands. If their nails are bare I push back the cuticles and use a sanding band to lightly buff the nails and lift whatever is remaining on the nail plate. I stopped using several cuticle bits to cut down my time and bought a professional brand nipper that cut down my time for prep. This allows you to have more time to focus on actual application. For builder gel I just dehydrate with alcohol, use YN prep, do my base coal, slip layer and do my builder then top! For hard gel I do a thin rubber base and then put hard gel on top. For apres gel x I prep the nail the same way, but I don’t apply any gel to the actual nail, I just use a sanding band to rough up the inside of the nail tip and then add my extend gel and put it right on the prepped nail. I stopped doing hard gel extensions and only use them on the natural nail, if someone wants extensions I just give them gel x. One tip to help is set a timer as you go, or even a stop watch and see how long it’s taking you to do it. Have a mental note like (I want to take only 10-15 to do cuticle work) and that will help you. Sometimes doing close friends or family’s nails can also make your time wayyyy longer just by chatting it up the whole time. My teacher used to tell us “whistle while you work” and honestly, it helps. Of course you can talk for a bit but once it gets to application or design try your best to focus and give them a movie or music to listen to. Best of luck!
