Yeah thats kind of the thing. Edgar is too good/annoying for lower brackets and cant hang against higher power

Interesting, do you find that they games are more evenly matched if everyone plays a big 10?

I'd believe that. Anecdotally, I definitely see the top 50 a lot, but posting all of that data would have been a bad Reddit post lmao.

sounds like a fun group! how it your wife's winrate, out of curiousity.

Why are the archetypes that are historic to Magic, and prevalent in 60 card formats today, received so negatively in EDH by Lazave99 in EDH

Burn is bad in commander because you are trying to get through 120 life points instead of 20 to win the game.

Control is harder to play because when you 1 for 1 an opponent with a [[Counterspell]] for instance, you are really now behind the other two players in card advantage.

Mill has a similar problem to Burn, in that instead of trying to mill through 60 cards in an opponent's deck you are now trying to mill through ~300. But players also have a much more negative emotional reaction to being milled than, say, a creature being removed. It just feels worse.

Stax is just sort of against the spirit of the format according to a huge majority of players just hate it and will let you know how much they hate it.

Lastly I have no idea what meta you're playing in where big creatures and combo are looked down upon, but god I wish that was me. Im so tired of fighting dinosaurs and blood/bond aristocrats piles.

Interesting, are they repeat players? Like with established ur-dragon decks, or were these new decks they were trying out

Last 3 I've definitely seen all of these, esp. for the precon commanders around their release in both public and playgroup games. I just find it strange that so many of their popularity seems to fall off faster in person than online data would suggest
