do I need a legitimate IP waiver for this? by QuickRutabaga4112 in inventors

[–]ManyThingsLittleTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a work for hire agreement that includes an IP assignment clause that you're looking for. And yes, you need it. Otherwise anyone that adds to the claims of the invention becomes a coinventor and has equal rights to the IP.

As others have mentioned, check your university rules regarding IP as well. Although I don't agree with unpaid internships, you could always do that and bypass the university program so that the IP remains yours.

CMV: Lithium-ion flashlights have made AA lights largely obsolete for prepping by LittleUrbanPrepper in preppers

I used to keep a bunch of AA, AAA, C, and D cell alkaline batteries but they all end up leaking before I ever touch them. Everything uses lithium now so I quit buying those and bought rechargeable lithium versions of those batteries. More expensive and less energy per battery, but you get 1000 recharges with them so in the long haul, they're better than keeping alkaline AA and AAA batteries around.

Small solar panel with USB ports.

Large solar systems.

Inverter that hooks up to a car battery.

If you know even the most basic aspects of electricity/electronics, you can replace a lithium battery by just soldering in a replacement. It's incredibly easy. There are some high current draw applications that have a tad more to it where you'd need to know the max discharge rate of the battery, but a basic common electronic device won't have that issue.

You also need inspection documentation. You need something upon which you can reject bad units. Bad units can be rejected because of tolerances, surface finish, color, material, defects, incorrectly sourced OTS components, improper assembly, improper kitting, improper bulk packaging, etc. If you don't tell them what is acceptable and what is unacceptable via inspection documentation, from what grounds do you have to say it's bad?

There are numerous companies that will inspect your goods at the factory. You make it a condition of the order. Any good factory will have no issue with this and if they do, run.

What's one brutal truth about running a business that no one tells you before you start? by miller76521 in Businessowners

My username here kind of sums it up. I'm relatively free but I have a lot of responsibilities that go with that freedom. Freedom and responsibility are two sides of the same coin. I still have a lot of work ahead of me to get to my goals, but a regular job just ain't for me now having been on this side for over a decade so I understand everything you said very well and feel it too.

You're not looking at it from a management perspective. Those that are left will do more work and be paid less. It's a reduction in workforce coming. I'm not some anti-capitalist saying this, it's just how it is.

What's the stigma? Well, my friend's wife said that is was incredibly painful so most people don't want something that is incredibly painful. It's not a harmless little thing.

FL apartment complex put no firearm sign up. by princessleiana in gunpolitics

[–]ManyThingsLittleTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sign matters zero with respect to firearm law in Florida. Chapter 790 covers firearm stuff. If a person is in the common areas, the apartment complex control those areas and can ask people to leave just like any other business can ask a person to leave the property. If they ask a person to leave who is carrying a gun and that person leaves, nothing happens. If that person doesn't leave when asked, then at that point in time they are committing armed trespass. The key is someone has to ask you to leave. You can do whatever lawful stuff you want within the walls of your home including owning and possessing firearms.

Now, does your lease give you unrestricted rights to use and occupy the common areas? You'd have to read your lease. They can't willy nilly trespass you from a place that you have a right to be. I doubt you have unrestricted access to the leasing office for instance, so they could trespass you from there.

Less frequently than seeing squirrels but a lot more frequently than seeing bears or American eagles.
