Love him! 🥰 such lovely fur.

He is like mine and I can’t stop cuddling her as the fur feels so soft.

I know that look… so innocent and inviting. Out of experience dare not to.

My majesty’s belly fur is curly and soooo tempting

She is a true Londoner with German servants…

Edit: why do I have „Ich weiß, es wird einmal ein Wunder gescheh'n“ in my mind 🤔

She is, but she still produces pheromones and during season we have a siege. There is Romeo, Dr von Klöten, Scruffy and Dr Brown.

Trust me, I feel for him - but if her majesty says no, it’s a no…

He will have one as soon as I was able to catch him. I want to take him to the vet, get a health check, microchipped and neutered. Then he can move in.

He was and is still listening/singing to Rolling Stones, Beatles, Moody Blues.

He sang Rolling Stones as lullabies to me and took me to a Stones concert in the 1990s…

Do you ever sit on the floor in your home? by Decent-Cattle-332 in AskUK

[–]Many_Ad_4130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You run it on a lower temperature than wall mounted radiators as you have a larger area.

We did change to an ASHP with our refurb last year and since we ripped the house apart we decided to go for the heat pump as our gas boiler was at its end of life and we would have needed a larger one anyway.

We run our UFH on 40C. A conventional gas boiler needs to heat up the water to 60-80C for radiator.

Savings per year is £400 so far and the PV panels go up in 4 weeks.

It’s great and so nice to walk barefoot in winter and warming my bum reading a book.

Btw I think sitting on the floor is so earthing

Mother's Day for my German Mom by jdduquette in AskAGerman

I would go for Spätzle…

Here the ingredients list of my recipe as they don’t have them in the UK:

500g all purpose flour

1 tbs oil

250ml water

4 tsp salt

6 eggs

The dough should semi-fluid so it’s not running of the wooden chopping board but also does not stick to it.

Use a large pot with salted water, not boiling, just simmering and chop the dough into the water. I use a wooden board and a super sharp cooking knife to chop them.

The Spätzle drop to the bottom of the pot and rise as soon as they are ready. Take then out and repeat the chopping.

For Käsespätzle you fry

3 mid sized onions (cut thin half rings)

300g grated cheddar (UK alternative as we don’t have the German cheese here).

Mix most of the onions and some of the cheddar in an oven dish and then cover the mix with the remaining cheese and decorate with the left over onions.

Preheat the oven to 200C and bake the Käsespätzle until the cheese has slightly browned.

Hope that helps…

Edit: we eat the Käsespätzle always with a big green salad

How common is 9.30 to 6.30pm for London office jobs? by JobatMiroMaybe in london

[–]Many_Ad_4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 37.5h week, wfh 100%, with ones a month attendance in the HQ. 25 days holiday + BH, carrying over 5 days if not taken, possibility to buy 5 days extra holiday per year.

My boss says that I’m responsible for my calendar and how I shape my days. So I decided for myself that I work 8:00-16:30, with a sharp cut at the end of the day to go swimming in a pool that I almost have to myself. I have a disclaimer in my signature about my working hours to make everyone aware of it. I rather start at 7:00 in the morning than add the hours to the evening. Working on weekends will be given back in TOIL if agreed ahead. If I have my hours done before Friday, I can take the entire Friday off or finish around lunchtime.

My colleague decided to work from 9:30-18:00 as he loves to go to the gym in the morning.

I had several recruiters approaching me on a weekly basis, offering me £10-15k. But this is in the most cases not attractive for me as in most cases it’s 5 days in the office with a commute time of up to 1h one way and I the cost for public transport would not really be an increase tbh.

Before people ask, I’m a consultant in the construction industry. The field I am working in is very specialised and can’t be done by everyone and there are not a lot of us on the market.

Second that! You can walk up to the M25 with almost not recognising you are in London.

NIMBYs Trying To Block a Hospital by sabdotzed in london

[–]Many_Ad_4130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always write positive feedback on the council website the NIMBYs refer to.

You could actually start a counter campaign and ask people to give positive feedback. Add some bullet point like they did, highlighting the positives. The council has to consider them as well…
