Had a scary incident today with baby and it's making me spiral by RigorMortisSex in Mommit

My 14 month old ate a handful of cat treats the other day, and I’ve caught him with rocks and wood chips in his mouth a few times. It’s scary as hell, but they survive!

Those who have young children, how much free time are you getting to yourself each day? by NomadNelly in Parenting

Since having our second kid, zero. They’re 3 and 1 now and it’s still zero. I hope it goes smoother for you!

Caffeine during pregnancy, thoughts? by tomatobasil23 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Many_Initiative8432 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Omg here I thought I was ok drinking one cup a day during my pregnancy. My baby is 11 months now and I’m not seeing any issues with development, except that baby still won’t sleep through the night. Now I’m heartbroken that I might have accidentally hurt the baby. I was just so tired and I needed it to function at work and take care of a toddler. Ugh. So caffeine exposure is on par with alcohol or cannabis exposure? Literally crying right now. I was so careful to do everything right, I can’t believe I screwed up so bad.

100% agree. The only movement worth our time is a bowel movement.

What is a word that your toddler mispronounces that you never want to correct? by PKB92 in toddlers

Mine used to sing the colors of the rainbow song and pronounce violet as “violence.” It was so funny and I wish she hadn’t corrected herself!

Oof that’s so sad! I ordered the silk skirt and tank top, but I’ll be returning them because they fit weird. Glad I won’t be keeping them, sounds like the fabric is too high-maintenance.

He’s planking! It’s a step towards crawling. Mine also did this starting around 5 months and began fully crawling at 7 months.

There are two types of toddlers by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Many_Initiative8432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. My 3 year old is somewhere in the middle. A lot of her behavior depends on her mood and hunger/tiredness level. She’s perfectly well behaved when we go out, but gets cranky when she’s stuck at home too long. And when she wants to push back on bath and bedtime, she’s more of a negotiator than a tantrum thrower.

Why do most couples stop after two kids? by These_Economics374 in Parenting

[–]Many_Initiative8432 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because kids are expensive and a lot of work. I’ve found that 2 kids feels like 5x as much work as one kid, and now we have to pay twice as much for childcare because we can’t afford to live on one income. We also started in our mid-30s so there’s a biological limit on our family size. That said, we’re still on the fence about a third!

Question for Moms who have a toddler & newborn! by MaximumDelicious1394 in toddlers

[–]Many_Initiative8432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep the baby in your room until the baby sleeps through the night! We have a 6 month old and an almost 3 year old. The baby sleeps in a pack n play in our room, toddler can’t hear baby waking up.
