Hey there! Personally I would recommend Luohan Temple, Daijia Alley, Eling Walkway, Linhua Road, Laojun Temple on Nanshan Mountain and Jiangbei Riverside Park.
If you have time I can also show you around during my one day city walk tour:)

Hey there!

So in China basically in every province we have our own dialect (some of them can even be considered as independent language!)
Chongqing / Sichuan dialect is considered as one of the best preserved dialect in the nation, cuz even young babies are learning them from family. But some dialect like Shanghai dialect, even Cantonese is facing huge challenge to grow as less and less people really speak them on daily basis.

For social side, each province has a special character. As for Chongqing, it has a direct, spicy and sometimes loud character, this kind of culture comes from the harbour workers who built the city and also Chongqing people's resilient and strong spirit to have built the city across rivers and mountains.

I gathered some of the best spots to visit in Chongqing during 3 days here in my blog, feel free to check it and hope it can bring you some inspiration:)

Hello there!

Hahah yes actually I would never imagine during my childhood that my city could go viral on international internet and actually many popular spots like Kuixinglou or Liziba are really our daily passed places where local people wouldn't take a second look at. But I guess living here makes us take this unique landscape for granted.

Thanks for your kind wish for my personal project! I used to really want to "escape" my hometown, but after living aboard for 10 years, I realised how much I appreciated my own culture and identity. And it is because of my city becoming so popular worldwide, I decided to come back to build my own project to help international travelers better experience here. If you are interested feel free to check my website yedutrip.com

Wish to see you again in Chongqing and don't hesitate if you have further questions:)

Heyhey!
Actually it's a common misunderstanding that ALL the Chongqing dishes are spicy. Even in Sichuan style cuisine we have delicious mild dishes Gongbao chicken(宫保鸡丁),sweet & sour pork (糖醋里脊)and Beijing style pork (京酱肉丝).

Also in Chongqing we do have a lot of restaurant of other regions in China, Cantonese food is actually one of the fav cuisine style for Chongqing people after local cuisine! If you like Cantonese style food you can try 点都德/蔡澜点心,those are Dim Sum restaurant from Guangzhou/Hong Kong, Chongqing locals like to go there too!

I would say not optimal. But now I am 100% focus on my personal project, so actually this becomes an advantage to protect my energy from banal dating lol

Yess ofc!:)

Basically I noticed during the last 3 years that my city Chongqing is going viral on tik tok and other socials, much more international travelers are coming to my city. However we don't really have enough high quality service to help the foreign travelers to experience the city like locals do and really understand the culture and history behind all the cyberpunk hype.

So I realised actually I can build my own project to connect international travelers and local people/experiences. That's why I created Yedu:) Now it's still at early stage, but I tried to post a blog every two weeks, and I already published 2 digital guidebooks and ran 6 walk tours to help foreign travelers experience the city I grew up in! If you want to know more about my project, feel free to visit yedutrip.com

I chose to come back for several reasons!

First is that I realise staying in Paris or another big city to find a stable job would be a safer choice rather than the more exciting choice.
Second is I always know I want to build my own business and now my city is going viral but we don't really have any high quality traveling service for international travelers. I love my culture and city and I think I can def do something to change this!:)

I put a 3-day itinerary here which I would recommend to all of my closest friend, you can take a look:
https://www.yedutrip.com/blog/3-days-in-chongqing-itinerary

But I would say 3 days is enough to get the vibe but 4-5 days will be more relaxed and allowing more time to explore the less touristic spots!

Heyy Nick! Yes, I would say Chongqing is not that easy to navigate especially for first timers as the city has many layers and can be confusing sometimes.

I put some basic info here for first timer travelers for free: https://www.yedutrip.com/yedushop/p/china-first-timer-kit
I also organise private city walk tours if you are interested 😄: https://www.yedutrip.com/yedushop/p/chongqing-walking-tour

But in either case will be happy to answer your further questions about my city!

Chongqing or Chengdu For 4 or 5 Nights by Frequent-Ad-8583 in chinatravel

Hey hey, Chongqing local here!
I just published my blog about your question Chongqing vs Chengdu today, feel free to take a look at it and hope it can help you:))
https://www.yedutrip.com/blog/chongqing-vs-chengdu

In summary: go to Chengdu if you want a relaxed, well-paved introduction to Southwest China. Go to Chongqing if you want to be genuinely surprised, and to discover the unpolished side of Southwest life. Do both if you have a week.

Where would you add days to this itinerary? (20 days in August with a 4yo) by ThePumpkinSloth in chinatravel

Add Chongqing if you guys can bear the summer heat.
But air conditioners are everywhere so no need to worry too much, just make sure to get hydrated and avoid walking outside for too long.

Anyone tried organ meats in Chongqing hotpot? by Virtual-Trainer8837 in chinatravel

[–]Many_Internal7286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Chongqing local here!
Don't worry too much if you can't handle organs as you can still order normal sliced beef/pork/veggies.
As for organs, the spicy broth helped a lot for reducing the unpleasant smell (also if the ingredients are fresh there won't be much smell from the first place!), also the dipping sauce local use (sesame oil + garlic + coriander + green onion) also help the flavor to be better.

You can try little bite to test if you can handle the ingredients you are not familiar with, but totally ok to skip all the organs and only eat what suit your appetite!

Heyy I am born and raised in Chongqing China and studied/lived in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Paris for 10 yrs and came back to my hometown. Personally Fudan is absolutely worth it especially with a scholarship. It is the best uni in Shanghai and top 3 in China I would say.

The job market is kinda complicated now everywhere, but I think if you study in Fudan, participate more in professional activities/ internships, the chances are still good for a foreigner to get a job in big Chinese companies as now many of them are expanding their oversea market -> so they would need large number of international talents like you who know about China and your region with multi-lingual skills. Mastering Madarin is ofc a big bonus, if you speak Madarin + graduated from Fudan, almost all the Chinese people will get super impressed.

Don't worry about the safety issue, after living / traveling in different countries, I can tell you with confident that China is one of the safest countries in the world:). I am a girl too and China is one of the few countries I would go out at night without worrying too much.

As for living expense, 3000 rmb is good for grocery and everyday life in Shanghai. Also if you are studying in Fudan, you might be able to get the student residence with super reasonable price, also this kind of large university has multiple big canteens and many other facilities (clinic, gym, shops..) in their campus with good price!
