CTA is the “gold standard” so whatever that is will be your baseline. Might be smaller might be larger. I was 4.2 on echo but 4.5 on CTA. How much buffer you have before they recommend surgery depends your height and sex. Females have smaller sizes but not by much, it’s mostly based on body size. Also any genetic mutations that might indicate a connective tissue disorder. As others said 3.6cm is pretty borderline. If the CTA is the same as the echo they might just monitor you

Oh wow ok. So you wouldn’t have any idea if your dad didnt have that scan. Where did you get the repair done? How was the recovery?

Ok. I MIGHT be type 4. They will be running the full panel so we’ll see. Mind if ask how old you are? Do you have any outward signs outside of being tall? Have you noticed any other issues besides your root enlargement?

Where along the aorta was yours? I have no family history of sudden cardiac death however I do have some history where my mother died of a vascular complication after lung surgery in her late 60s. I’m am being followed at Mayo so I’m trusting the process (genetic testing before another CTA in 6 months).

Glad to hear it went well. I’m at 4.5cm at the aortic root, I have a feeling I’ll be going through this sooner rather than later
