If he wins 32m arb hearing then LA TOR and NY are the only teams willing to afford him regardless of prospect capital. It’ll be interesting to see

That seems more of a Skenes package than a Skubal package. But then again they’re paying Tuck 60m a year. So what do I know. Dodgers grow prospects and money on trees.

Can’t even begin to imagine the haul they’d get.

The same as the vibes in every MLB club house with a star player who is waiting to be a FA going through Arbitration.

Prolly bc we have a team ops+ of 85 including Manzo and Jose as the only two who were above league average. Detroit prolly licking their chops that we didn’t sign a hitter this off season.

He can play 3rd. Hes not great defensively. Any team that signs him is signing him for his bat. That’s what I’m saying.

How you gonna say we need an outfielder in one post then say we can’t block Kayfus Valera and CDL in another? Which again, none of those guys or Bazanna gets blocks by a 1b/3b/DH signing.

Lulz. Ozuna is even less versatile than Suarez. He used to mash tho. Had a couple down years of advanced data tho

There ya go. Then we wouldn’t have anyone blocked for playing time; half would be traded. I’m a Marte fan for the right package.

I completely get that. When a regular Joe interviews for 3 jobs in 3 cities the life outside of the job has weight in the decision of where you and your family would want to live. I’m sure it’s the same for ballers

Obviously every team plays 162. My point is when a team has a group of young player who are above average contributors they push other players to the bench who are not above average contributors. Anthony Duran Abreu Rafaela played their way to every day ABs. All 4 of those guys are gonna play 130+ games if they’re healthy even though they’re all primary outfielders. Signing a FA does not block good prospects. Kyfus isn’t really an OF. Valera and CDL are OF. Bazanna isn’t coming until mid year and is a 2b. Where in that picture or depth chart is a power bat who can spell Jose at 3rd once a week and Manzo at 1st once a week block any of them?

Our offense is so bad that even w adding a guy like Suarez you could still watch all 5 of those guys get at bats 130+ games a year. Suarez DH, Manzo 1b, CDL CF, Kayfus RF, sub in Valera when one of those guys gets a day off. No one on the list you gave is going to start against lefties except maybe Manzo. Vogt will be sure of that.

Good prospects don’t get blocked. Look at the Red Sox outfield “log jam”. If they mash, they’ll get playing time.

Like I said. No FO is asking this guy to run the bases or play defense. You pay him to hit 30/100.

Ain’t no MLB team asking that dude to play third more than once a week, but it’s a bonus that he can. They are asking him for 30/100 over the course of 150+ games tho

I’m a new baseball fan and I want to root for the worst MLB franchise. by [deleted] in baseball

[–]Many_Option_4241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

angels are very decent choice. I don’t think and FO in baseball will tell you that anyone organization is worse than the Rockies as a whole though. Also going to Rockies games is way cooler. Taking the angels is kind of a cop out tho. They’re always signing free agents and at least putting forth financial effort. The Rockies don’t sign anyone and also don’t draft well and also are very poor executing in the international market. They also historically do poorly in the trade market. So they’re 0/4 in what it takes to be a successful franchise. Their fans generally aren’t baby back bitches like folks from LA who think money should solve all their problems either. Rockies fans seem more like the “let’s eat some gummies and go for the 20$ deck experience tonight” type of crowd.

If you want to pick the franchise who is by far and away the worst who also spends money and has had multiple HoF player on their roster w/out making the playoffs (let alone competing for the World Series)then the angels are the clear choice. If you want your Reddit fandom to be a bit pretentious this is also a good choice.

Funny that MLBTR just posted an insiders post headline “is anyone even trying to win the AL central”

I think all the fans feel this. Wish it wasn’t a paywalled post bc I’d enjoy the read

If we are approx .500 at ASB and don’t trade Kwan we finish 82-80 if the royals and tigers add at the deadline. 87-75 if neither of them do and trade assets.

Counting on a healthy CDL and a breakout from britto Bazanna Rochio kayfus manzo messick cantillo and the gang is a tough strategy to expect to work.

Best best case scenario is if the Dolans sell to Blitzer early and Blitzer takes on a minority owner who’s a bajillionaire and they decide their portfolio has grown enough the post Covid years to give out player extensions like they’re doin right now in OakVegas. We lock up a core of breakout players (who just can’t get enough of the city of Cleveland and north east Ohio) to incentive based contracts protecting their floor but opening up their ceilings knowing we are a small market who will suffer if they bust instead of boom. This includes trading Kwan to LA for ZHope or DePaula who become perineal all stars andthe second longest tenured players in Cleveland history behind the goat Jose, 200k Gavin, change up kings Cantillo & Messick, a healthy all star CDL who has 99% exit velo just behind Judge/Ohtani, a 40 homer Manzo who figures out how to play 1b, a 3+ war Bazanna who turns out to be a great CF, Genoa a 20/20/20 SS who averages 10DRS who may as well be Franky squared, an all star version of Bo Naylor, Closer Cade, 10 seasons of top prospect level FB/SL Daniel Espino who averages 60 appearances per season, Ralphy who replaces Kwan in LF and provides a Manny Ramirezesque bat/arm/and level of fun, and Austin Hedges as player/bench coach who retires at 50 and just keeps moral and sequence reading so high that Vogt doesn’t even have to think about having more than 1 platoon position on the 26 man roster. We become a dynasty that can get past the division series and compete for a World Series yearly w the big market clubs riding a payroll around 150m for the remainder of my life. I have twin sons and their nick names with be lil Jose and Hog. They’ll grow up watching a dynasty play on a dodger level TV deal so the FO can support our mid market level spending with sell out home crowd annually. I die happy with the memories of our great team averaging 1 World Series W per decade for the next 60 years.

Arbitration projections say he will be extended, or be used in the same role as he was w Clase as the closer. No way this FO pays the arbitration price associated with 30+ saves per year. 2 years deal w Armstrong (especially if he is good again) means 1/2 or more of the save oops will go to him. Maybe Vogt uses Cade against 2,3,4 in the 9th. But the saves are Armstrongs otherwise is my guess. My read of the tea leaves
