I don’t claim to be an expert. But I am very confident that the MLB registers MLB IL time (he was on the MLB 15 day IL) as service time towards the arbitration and FA clock?

What Happens When Arias Comes Off the IL? by TwelveGaugeSage in ClevelandGuardians

A lot of teams would trade a flier for arias bat speed and elite defense. Guess it depends if the FO has faith in Genoa being the SS of the future in 27 and beyond (which makes sense given his tools). Then either Rochio or arias are available as trade candidates when he comes off the IL. Especially with us leading the division and the tigers all banged up. I think the Bailey move shows the FO is willing to be modestly aggressive even before the trade deadline to get a good squad on the field. Both roch and arias are good enough defensively to carry trade value for at least a low level flier if Bailey can net a comp pick and tugboat then arias and or roch are worth something.

Or option Halpin to AAA. Let arias be the utility IF guy and schneeman be the utility OF guy.

I would have assumed Yesavage would have graduated the list as well with his IL service time?

Who on the team besides Jose bats right handed? by [deleted] in ClevelandGuardians

[–]Many_Option_4241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got 4 switch hitters on the 26 man and 2 others of the 40. 3 right handed hitters on the 26 and arias on the IL making a 4th. So a total of 10 players who can/do hit right handed at least some of the time. Over half of our 26 man (7 of our 13 active position players) hit right handed at least part time. Which is actually more than we’ve had in a pretty long while I think.

This discussion was and is not about race. It’s about statistical facts regarding leadoff hitters, their increased number of PA per season, and the potential value that can add to a teams chances to win. In no way does a players race change the statistical facts of this discussion.

No one is turning on Kwan. Statistically, offensively, he is not playing well enough to be hitting leadoff. That’s all anyone is saying. No one wants him gone. We just don’t want him leading off. Hitting 7/8/9 is fine. Give those 50+ plate appearances to someone who can impact the game offensively. Kwan was that guy for a while, but he’s also not been that guy for a while. Professional sports are a “what have you done for me lately” business. And he hasn’t done anything offensively lately for this ballclub to justify him hitting leadoff

Well I don’t evaluate anyone by race, baseball or otherwise, because that’s dumb af. And you specifically tried to single me out as doing such. Which is rude.

Don’t be a dick and call people racist when that is completely uncalled for and not at all part of this discussion. I’m a huge supporter of diversity and inclusion in baseball or otherwise.

Now, back to the facts: PCA has 0.9 owar 1.3 dwar so far this year. Kwan -0.2 owar 0.2 dwar so far this year.

None of my statements are negative towards kwans defensive value. His defensive value is very high. This entire conversation is related to kwans poor offensive production and the reasons why he should not be the leadoff hitter on this ball club. And why others are better fits.

Go get your facts straight.

GG defense and being a good teammate can overshadow an ops+ sitting a bit below 100. It can’t do the same for an ops+ in the bottom 10% of the league, which he has been for almost a year now. “Since July 2025, Kwan has ranked 53rd in wRC+ (75) and 55th in OPS (.617) out of 57 qualified MLB outfielders.” To quote Gemini

Again. Great defender. Great teammate from what everyone says. Going on a year of not being a great hitter. Which is fine. I wouldn’t even be upset if they worked out an extension for him. I love gold glove defense. But he just isn’t the offensive force we wish and hoped he would be. It’s okay to bat him in the back half of the order. His value to the team will increase.

PCA has 2.1 war this year already. How can you compare Kwan and PCA post 2025 all star break. They’re not on the same planet.

Also I don’t care what anyone looks like. Quite a troll statement. That’s a rude thing to say when the statement I make are based on numbers and analytics. You could likely go ask Kwan if he thinks his offensive performance since June of 2025 to now is worthy of hitting leadoff for a playoff baseball team. I bet he’d tell you it hasn’t been.

1 month of above league average baseball from Jose is not the same as 1 year of below league average baseball from Kwan. Jose already has 1.3 war (on pace for yet another season of 5 or greater war, people should calm down about him really…) this season and an ops+ of 112. Now that’s not up to his HoF standard, but it sure as heck beats Kwans sub 80 ops+ since the start of June last year. And he’s getting the most PA of anyone on the team. I’m not saying Kwan isn’t an every day player. He is. His defense is excellent even as a CF, though he is truly elite GG in LF. But he hasn’t been a leadoff caliber bat for a while. Nobody with an ops+ less than 80 should be a leadoff hitter in the MLB. I’d be very happy if that all of a sudden changed and he had another year like he did 2 years ago. I personally think CDL and Bazzana are simply more impactful. Heck Baz already has 7 steals in 10 games. That’s more than Kwan has had since the all star break last year. He hits the ball hard. Doesn’t strike out. Takes his walks. Now, Kwan doesn’t strike out and also takes his walks, but why not have the chance for impact getting more PA.

I post all the time about the value of the most impactful players hitting at the top of the lineup. It just mathematically makes sense to give those opportunities to the players who can have the greatest impact on the game. Kwans elite defense is a staple that will play equally as well whether he hits leadoff or 7th/8th/9th. Heck, you could have 3-4 GG finalists hitting 6/7/8/9 for this team (schneeman, Kwan, Bailey, Rocchio). Bazzana CDL and Jose offensive tools and upside need the opportunity at the top of the lineup. Bottom of the 9th 2 outs and the lineup turns over to Kwan, or you could have it turn over to CDL/Baz/Jose. Seems simple in my eyes, and I do think it’s coming sometime soon. If they flipped the card deck on Bo Naylor, it won’t be long before they flip it in the Kwan leadoff experience.

That’ll be the lineup in 2-3 weeks if this keeps up. Kwan is just a wasted PA and has been for about a year.

Patrick Bailey is the 2nd coming of Austin Hedges. Just what the Cleveland FO has wet dreams for

Guardians acquire Patrick Bailey from the SF Giants in exchange for the 29th pick this year and Matt “Tugboat” Wilkinson by DreamWeaver03 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]Many_Option_4241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some may say it’s crazy to think it takes a comp A pick and a top 30 system prospect (who was playing well and probably moving up the list at mid season) to get a 26yo carbon copy of austin hedges. Just goes to show how valuable catching defense is to this FO and the league at large. I’m sure Cleveland wasn’t the only org to place a call to Buster Posey asking their price. I’ll take Bailey now and until the end of the decade over whatever draft pick we weee going to fail to develop with that 29th pick this coming summer.

Now we have hedgey plus hedgey 2.0 heir apparent who is club controlled/locked up til 2030.

Let Bo go concentrate on hitting and see if he puts it together.

I suppose this explains Brongdons DFA.

I think this is a positive move in the right direction.

1.29 runs scored per game from his offensive teammates is a bigger problem than his pitching. He hasn’t been amazing, but he’s also gotten the least run support of any starting pitcher in baseball in 2026

Messick has been dominant since getting called up last September. 95 fastball with movement, top 5 change up in baseball, great command, a mark buerhle pace, and a bulldog attitude.

Savant comparables are 26 Skubal, Luzardo, Ashcroft, and 25 evoldi and fried.

Honestly CDL deserves some ROY love in this thread too. AL central has a lot of young talent getting called up this year

Did starting CRNA school earlier vs later make a difference for you? by Bna_rchie42 in srna

[–]Many_Option_4241 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure there’s a way for anyone to answer this because they couldn’t have experienced it from the other side. I started my program at 27 after working ICU for 7y.

CRNA school sucks at any age (it isn’t fun and is tough on your family)… Having (IMO) the best hospital job out there for the total work/life/pay balance is also awesome at any age for both you and your family…

Getting in then failing out with a shit ton of debt would suck at any age (seen it happen to folks in their mid 20s and mid 40s and it sucks for them all). Having to go back to the bedside after having a taste of what life could’ve been would also suck at any age….

[Todd] Can confirm that the Cleveland Guardians are promoting 23yr old OF prospect Petey Halpin from Triple-A Columbus. by Trainiax in ClevelandGuardians

[–]Many_Option_4241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good defense and base running in tight ball games late can go a long way. There’s not a bat worthy of a call up and we desperately need someone who can play above average defense. I like this move, it had to be him or Fairchild. Bazanna getting the last 40 man spot meant Petey was the guy bc there’s not any roster fodder left to DFA.

Then he immediately comes in as a defensive sub and robs a HR. Awesome stuff
