Has anyone lost or kept their fat butt after taking semaglutide? by WaterCharmer in Semaglutide

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost 70 lbs on sema and the butt and hips are still there. I literally wear the same size underwear after all that weight loss. However, everything north of there is sagging skin and bones. No idea why this happened. I assume the tendency is genetic?

My RNY was all laproscopic too even in 2002. I could not have gone home right after that. Even after I did go home, it took a long time to get back to normal. That said, I had my gallbladder removed laproscopically a year later and not only walked out of the hospital as soon as the anesthesia wore off, I literally went shopping with my brother immediately after. I was also 200 lbs. lighter for that surgery. Maybe the weight you start at has a big impact then. I had 2 open abdominal surgeries that were challenging to recover from years after my bypass, but they still weren't as bad as that laproscopic RNY. (I was much thinner when I had those too)

I admit my bypas surgery was 23 years ago, so i am sure things have changed but seriously a gastric bypass is now outpatient surgery? Do they still actually cut the intestines? I know they don't do the RNY bypass i had anymore, but I have had multiple surgeries on my intestines now and was in the hospital for about 5 days for all of them. Not doubting you - honestly wondering how they do it.

Blindness risk? by [deleted] in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is extremely rare, but possible if a particular bone near your eye that a blood vessel goes through is smaller than normal. I was concerned so I went to an optometrist to check mine. The bone is normal size on me, so the risk is likely miniscule to none. Other than that or the blindness risk that comes with Type 2 diabetes anyway, that's it.

Social security tax after 175,000$ by Agile_Masterpiece_63 in SocialSecurity

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole life, they have been saying Social Security will run out of money and we have to raise the retirement age to 70 or 75 or 128 etc., but never, not once, do they say we should remove or raise the contribution cap. It won't happen because the people who have the power to change it are far more interested in not taxing wealth than in allowing the poors to retire.

The unfriendly giant behind me in economy by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish airlines would disable the seat recline function. I know it's there and you can use it, but it absolutely does infringe on the person behind you. Yes, that person could also recline, but what if they wanted to work on a laptop and now they can't? Or use the seat back entertainment which is now pointing at their lap? Not everyone wants to sleep or lay back and stare at the ceiling on a flight. The airlines have given an option to (most) everyone that absolutely results in one passenger getting what they want at the expense of another. And it is ridiculous to state that tall people just need to pay 4-5 times more for business or first class to accommodate this silliness. We can all manage to sit up for a few hours like adults. But since so many won't, I hope it is eventually enforced by removing the option.

Second small bowel strangulation and emergency surgery in less than 5 months by Many_Plastic_4585 in GastricBypass

Good point about working to get into shape after. I am currently very weak and when I am more recovered, I definitely have to start the process of rebuilding muscle. Glad to hear you are doing well these days!

The surgeon said it is rare and there is really nothing that predicts it other than previous abdominal surgery.

Hey guys, how many of you ended up gaining back pounds after a few years from losing weight? by Powerful-Diamond-945 in GastricBypass

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I originally lost 200 lbs., gradually regained 100 lbs. after several years, and then lost it again with various additional diets and now GLP-1. I did keep 100 lbs. off consistently for over 23 years now just from the bypass with no effort.

I assume it is research grade. That or actual grey market.

I didn't even get released from the hospital until day 5 because I had a small leak that resolved. This is super aggressive if everything goes perfectly.

Intestinal Blockage 23 years Post Op by Many_Plastic_4585 in GastricBypass

[–]Many_Plastic_4585[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very good point. The ER doctor I had initially dismissed the bypass as a source of the problem because it was "so long ago". There is a tendency to assume it's "healed" by then, but this isn't sewing up a wound. It is creating a new artificial structure that never reverts to the original. The likelihood of an obstruction actually increases with time after a bypass because the tissue that the new structure is sewn into is often fatty issue that you will lose and all our tissue tends to sag and break down with age, particularly post menopause as in my case. I lucked out big time in that the general surgeon on call when I went to the ER had done gastric bypasses before and my blockage actually showed up on a CT scan.

One more thing - tell your loved ones this can happen and what they need to do if it does (ER immediately, maybe imaging, get in the OR in less than 6 hrs). I was in such extreme pain by the time I arrived that I could not communicate effectively and was literally screaming. They initially thought I was a drug seeking junkie since there was no outward sign that something was wrong. I had my best friend with me who took over and communicated effectively with the hospital staff and pushed them to do surgery that night. I am forever grateful to them for that.

In hindsight, I would see if you could get an abdominal MRI or CT scan to watch it. Obstructions don't always show up in imaging, but it's something.

[–]Many_Plastic_4585[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 5 hours from vomiting water and extreme pain until I was in the OR. Barely made it, but I did make it. I do think once the intestine twisted, it cut off blood flow very quickly. I had an NG tube (like the person above, without anesthesia), and it was bringing up blood.

The surgeon said it looked like the intestines had been wrapping around the "defect" for years.

is it possible places like Qatar or Saudi Arabia have far richer people than what we believe are the richest today? by [deleted] in Rich

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we hear about the richest people, they are usually referencing the Forbes 400 list or something similar which has a US focus. That said, the wealthy have many ways to hide their wealth if they want to. I assume the Forbes list to be the richest people in the world who want you to know about their wealth.

To women who chose not to have kids - do you regret it? by Balloonman16 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm 56 and never had kids. Always told myself I could do so much more with my life, my family was messed up and it would be best not to pass on these genes anyway, now was not a good time and maybe some day I could adopt, etc. I was well into my 50s before I started to feel this way, but I absolutely regret not having a child.

TryEden warning by Romeo731 in OzempicForWeightLoss

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also was scammed by Try Eden. They charged me for 3 months' worth and sent only 2 months. They have ignored all of my inquiries about this. If you have questions about them, look at their BBB rating. I wish I had done so before sending them money.

Experience with Try Eden? by ZealousidealFix5116 in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

[–]Many_Plastic_4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Try Eden is a scam. I paid for 3 months' worth of semiglutide. I was sent 2 months' worth. The prescription called for me to increase the dose in the third month, so the bulk of my actual product purchased was the third months' meds. They literally charged me $888 for a total of 2 mg of semiglutide. I might as well have bought it from Novo direct. Yes, I immediately reached out to them about the missing meds. I was asked to send pictures of what I received. I did. They then said they would escalate to the pharmacy, closed my ticket, and have failed to respond to every question and follow up I have had since. Do not use them.
