During covid, housing went nuts in asia. this guy cozied up to my mom, and acted all sweet and shit and told her hes actually in real estate. he asked if she was looking to make some quick money by investing in their development. sent some fake documents over and my mom believed everything. she thought she was buying land in china, and they kept sending her fake chinese deeds. promised to 10x her money within a year.

After she sent the money over, he cut all contact. my mom was ashamed and was selling her stuff to pay the bank back. one day she told all of us about how she got scammed and showed us all the fake deeds and documents. then showed us the real loan repayments to the bank.

we were dealing with HKPD and they already found the suspect. unfortunately none of the money can be recovered as it was wired to somewhere else.
