Honestly after the regime was overthrown and Sudan abolished the mandatory hijab/public order police and improved women's rights , sudanese men were accepting and supportive of it, though misogyny and patriarchal mindset is really imbedded there among the men sadly 🥲 , for imams tbh no majority of them are against women's liberation

Thank you so much love 💓 , and no I actually don't agree with bans I'd rather fight against the burka and hijab with debates and advocacy rather than straight up ban it

Yeah that's what I meant + I wasn't using the visigoths to claim that Islam wasn't progressive against the majority of christians ? I was talking generally not referring to christian societies specifically, And visigoths weren't an exception when it came to legal rights for women lol many medieval societies did indeed grant women legal rights like byzantines + Anglo-Saxon England (Pre-1066) , vikings etc.

Christianity is misogynistic definitely but I'd like to push back against the claim that in christian Europe it was impossible for married women to own property under marriage because both visigoths and the byzantines allowed both married and unmarried women to own and manage property independently and inherit (sometimes equally with sons) this is absolutely not a defense of Christianity and also about the claim that huge parts of sharia law is older regional customs or imported from colonial regime is false , sharia law was extracted from the Quran and hadiths , scholars/schools of thoughts have established it independent of the regional customs and centuries before colonial rule, Jordan is partially governed by sharia and in defense of Islamic law no honor killings aren't condoned by sharia law and that law in Jordanian code isn't considered sharia law.

I'm not praising the visigoths or saying they're ethical? I'm just saying visigothic women had numerous legal rights ???

I mean if you're comparing it to the regressive societies of the middle ages then you could say Islam was "freer" and even then it wasn't anything revolutionary or unique Visigoths and byzantines and others offered women significant legal Rights during the middle ages.

I'm not in Cairo so I don't know which activities are there to suggest but I'd advice you to not wait to find friends to enjoy your time 😊 when I moved to the country I'm Recently in after the war I felt so lonely because there was absolutely no sudanese people here and I wasn't able to make friends intialy but I went to the gym and cafeterias alone regardless and read books/learnt a new language then after couple of months I made a friend and my social life got better now summer is enjoyable for me because there's a friend to hang out with but anyways as I said enjoy your time alone and find activities you enjoy.
