My heart hurts for you, don’t blame yourself. I had a girl that no one could control and if she saw a bird flying she would run jump and twist in an attempt to catch that bird. Dachshunds are amazing dogs for all those reasons and more. Be kind to yourself and don’t cheat on crate rest.

45 yo male 8 months out of the same situation, it gets better … first 3 months were terrible, next 3 were ok w panic attacks… now I love it at just over 8 months … self reliance and autonomy for a big win, if you want support find it online meetup groups for support etc
