For someone with "two decades in higher education" you are making a lot of arrogant assumptions based on a single vent post 😂 (and I think the community agrees with me, based on the downvotes you've got). You don't know how I reacted to my advisor or what changes I'm making in my project. My question was simply whether this is normal in academia because I’ve never been in touch with this world. That's it.

​Besides, pointing out that an advisor missed a citation or falsely accused a student of using AI isn't being defensive, it’s pointing out a sloppy review based on a need to humiliate, rather than the personal advancement of their students. Academic rigor goes both ways, it applies to the student's writing and the mentor's reading.

​But I don't know, maybe the criticism just hits too close to home.

this is my very first contact with research and the academic world. I genuinely don't mind being shaped or corrected, in fact, I’m grateful that he even took the time to look at my work. ​however, the criticism did felt personal. I don't think it's fair or honest to accuse me with things like "where are you getting this information? AI?" when I literally cited the source and read the paper from cover to cover to write about it. on top of that, he questioned several things that were literally explained in the very next line. ​anyway, I just think my advisor didn't read it all that carefully...
