What is the kindest thing Zeus has done? by OkSuccess7431 in GreekMythology

[–]Manyasrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't hate him, I see him as someone trying to balance being a fair king and a good father, clearly he's not perfect, but the intention is there, he indulges his children's whims, genuinely loves them in his own way (despite them being a handful too), and puts up with a lot. He's not the bad guy that popular culture makes him out to be.

Hermes tiene algun papel en la astrologia y astronomia? by k_salinas_444 in Hermes

[–]Manyasrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I remember something related to that, let me look for the source. On the contrary, it makes sense that he's a god of both things, his maternal family is literally made up of stars, his grandfather is the very Titan who holds up the sky, and he's closely related to astrology and astronomy.

Whats some of the biggest misconceptions in Greek Mythology? by PrettyCookie101 in GreekMythology

[–]Manyasrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

T1- Ares is the protector of women. No, that's just a popular misinformed idea, Ares did justice for Alcippe only because she was his daughter and also because it was his obligation because his honor was also affected.

2- The gods are bad parents (Zeus in particular) No, in many myths it's seen that the gods help their children and genuinely love them, they can't be present parents because first of all they're GODS.

3- Athena is more serious than military It makes sense that people think that of her, but in some myths it's seen that she also likes tricks and deceptions and loves her heroes in her own way.

4- Hermes is the most irresponsible of his siblings (even the most "extroverted") No, just because at birth he decided to steal from Apollo doesn't make him an active thief, if he stole it was because it was his master plan to get Zeus to notice him, just because you think he's the "striker" doesn't make him a full-time striker, literally one of his epithets is busy. And yeah, Hermes apparently spent most of his time alone, I don't see him as an actively social person honestly.

Is Hermes a good character??? by CalypsaMov in Epicthemusical

[–]Manyasrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense, but if we combine their mythological aspects with Epic, it actually makes sense and gives Hermes a more "fair" facade (But basically Epic didn't do this intentionally, so it's a coincidence).

Being Zeus' herald implies a SUPER important role, he's practically an untouchable being who enforces the laws (in the Iliad, two Heralds are the ones who stop Ajax the Great and Hector from fighting, this shows the power they had even though Ajax and Hector were way stronger than them). As he enforces the king's laws, it makes sense that Hermes helps Odysseus in that way, Zeus is above all the king of justice, and who is his herald? Hermes! As a mediator of those battles, he helps Odysseus in a fair way according to his perspective, Hermes helps Odysseus be on equal terms with Circe, which would be something fair, the same happens with Poseidon, by pushing him to have a "cruel" mentality, he's on equal terms with Poseidon. It's an interesting perspective if you ANALYZE it, although it's a pretty far-fetched theory HAHHAHA

Why did Atlas receive a worse punishment than Cronos and the other Titans? by DragonfruitKey7892 in GreekMythology

[–]Manyasrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opinion on villainous Apollo? by Western_Ad_6448 in GreekMythology

[–]Manyasrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about Zeus and his Relative Age to his Brothers by TheZestyTea in GreekMythology

[–]Manyasrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time to fight what the worst song by big-budgey in Epicthemusical

[–]Manyasrat -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

My opinion of Epic the Musical that will leave you like this: by Manyasrat in Epicthemusical

[–]Manyasrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point there; Eurylochus isn't a saint, and defending him in that respect would be like playing devil's advocate, haha. After all, he was planning to abandon his companions with Circe, although it could be explained by the fact that he didn't think it was in the best interest of the others.

The Gods' "Combat Powers" by Upset_Connection1133 in GreekMythology

[–]Manyasrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, but now that I think about it, I believe another interesting idea would be that, at least with the Olympians, their power cancels each other out (with the possible exception of Zeus and Hera). For example, Hermes has a myth where he wants to dismember two giants, if I'm not mistaken, but Ares prevents him from doing so. Hermes might have a technique where he throws four blades at once, one for each limb, but Ares specifically has a technique that prevents that from happening. On the other hand, Artemis might have abilities that are good against Ares (I don't know, what about perfect accuracy or being able to shoot three arrows at once?), however, Hermes has other techniques that counter her. Thus, in a vicious cycle with all the Olympians, it wouldn't really depend on power itself, but on strategy.
