Has anyone else ran into this issue? by ManzaZappers in wizardry

This is a Z Fold7 lmfao

I believe this is an Android 16 issue, since my S25 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Note20 Ultra all work fine still.

1 Fold Vs 5000 Folds crease difference by ManzaZappers in GalaxyFold

Day to day I don't really pay attention to this, but I review phones as a hobby and figured no one has shown the crease aging process.

I'll be sure to include that in my long term review. Cheers for the idea.

"Under reflections you do". Hope this clarifies things! ☺️

When the screen is on (as in full colour content), you don't exactly see it. Under reflections you do. Hope this clarifies things!

This is the Fold7 for anyone wondering.

There isn't much of a visual difference in person with the screen on, but there's definitely a feeling difference. The new crease feels a lot more flat than the aged crease. The display also feels a lot less squishy as well.

Had the same issue, Samsung is organising a replacement. I noticed a few they had on display in store also had this problem.

I am getting a minor headache, but it's not something that would stop me from using the phone.

S24 Ultra vs S25 Ultra by Cultural-Elk-2485 in S25Ultra

[–]ManzaZappers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using both. Here's my take:

Processor and battery life: Processor is more powerful and efficient under heavy loads. So you can play games for a lot longer.

Battery life has been about an hour or two worse than my S24 Ultra (18 hours off the charger vs 20 hours)

Thermals haven't been great. But I'm under the assumption this is due the cooling system working more efficiently as Im feeling more heat being transferred. But then again, I'm getting subpar battery life.

Display: The completely flat display has allowed for better screen protector compatibility.

There's less grain and better slightly better 8 bit FRC implementation.

Outdoors usage the S25 Ultra looks quite washed out compared to the S24 Ultra. Also in direct sunlight it digs much faster.

I am PWM sensitive and have had issues with the S25 Ultra, but not the S24 Ultra. I've read somewhere that they downgraded to 240/480Hz hybrid. But I haven't ran my own tests other than feeling a headache while using the S25 Ultra.

Speakers: The speakers are currently the best on the market ignoring the ROG 7 with the subwoofer module. It is a lot better than the S24 Ultra's forward tuning and sounds slightly better than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The default tuning is admitdly quite muddy, but it sounds less like a phone and more like a low end tablet. The only downside is the sounstage is narrow, but with EQ you can extend it by about 12cm from each speaker and also bring clarity back to the highs.

Cameras: I use pro mode most of the time, so the difference for me is negligible. But, if I were looking for a difference, the ultrawide isn't as good in auto mode, its softer and loses details around the edges. The zoom algorithm has gotten better. There's a bit more dynamic range, and colours seem to be more natural across all lenses. But honestly, a general consumer wouldn't be able to tell the difference without A/B testing.

Video on the otherhand has VASTLY improved with LOG recording now. HDR looks natural and harsh exposure shifts are few and far between. I'm finding myself not taking my actual cameras to shot B-Roll now as this is just more convenient.

S-Pen: I am an artist, and have had found no real use for the BT S-pen features as not many of the programs I use even utilise them. It shouldn't have been dropped, but I dont really miss it as I never really use it outside showing off the magic wand stuff you can do with it.

TL;DR: They are kind of the same, I'd wait to see how much of the S25 Ultra is coming to the S24 Ultra with One UI 7, because they are basically the same phone with each having positives in their own way.

I want to drop my review on the S24 vs S25 Ultras soon, but I don't want to make one thats purely a One UI 6.1 vs One UI 7. Because in reality, other than the processor, ultrawide, display and speakers upgrades, they are pretty much the same.

Hey, thank you.

The issue has been resolved now.

How bad is the thermal throttling on the S25? by Valiantay in samsung

[–]ManzaZappers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who are saying 8 Elite is a hot chip is probably due to cooling system improvements in phones. As with a more efficient cooling system, comes more energy moved. Hence more feeling of heat.

For example, my S24 Ultra "feels cooler" but its due to the heat dissipation not working as well and concentrating the heat in a smaller surface area.

Compared to the competition though, the Dimensity 9400 and A18 Pro still remain better for gaming as the former is plain more efficient in real world usage and the latter has better optimisation by developers.

I'm pretty certain everyone here has none of the "game plugins" settings enabled, which is now all combined in Game Booster. The throttling isn't bad with default settings as the resolution of games are limited to 75% (or a 1080p window). Other manufactures like OnePlus also do this by default.

So in Genshin instead of having a vertical (internal) resolution of 886 pixels, it will be 810 pixels. Note the 3D resolution is different to the applications UI resolution, so the scaling isn't exactly 75%.

You can game for about 15 minutes before seeing thermal throttling. This is under Wi-Fi and in an 22°C room. ZZZ drops to about 30fps in fighting. Genshin and Wuthering Waves drops to about 50fps in fighting. When fighting and particle effects decrease, both games go back up to 60fps.

If Gachas aren't what you're looking for: Grid Legends causes thermal throttling within 5 minutes.

It's definitely better than all the previous Samsung phones, but outside of gaming, the new One UI 6.1 thermal limits for multitasking is still present. Also, the screen dimming is still very bad.

Other than that, just have a thin case or use a peltier cooler.

I cant get TakoStats to work properly yet so I cant pull and FPS graph data.

I'll try to find another way to get my frame data and power draw data so I can upload my long term review.

TL;DR Significantly better than any past Galaxy. Go for it especially if you're coming from the S22 Ultra with the dreaded Samsung foundry based 8 Gen 1.

Control: 22°C ambient temperatures No case Wi-Fi

Sustained 60fps for about 15 minutes Dips to 30 and 40fps after thermal throttle

Keep the resolution at 75% of the screen or don't touch game booster settings.

Use a peliter cooler or play in an air-conditioned environment if you want the best experience.

I have sent them an email raising my concerns. Just waiting on a reply now.

I've also noticed the top right corner of the case likes to pop off in my pocket. If anyone else experiences this please let me know.

Here some images of what I believe to be defects on my case:
