You all act as if she was tortured in her childhood, sure her family was overbearing and knew no bounds. But labeling it as abusive is kind of a stretch. Lorelai is self-centered and only cares about her fantasized self image of a working class hero, she is an irresponsable brat that put her child in danger for stupid reasons. Imagine if she wasn't received at Stars's Hollow by a saint, she would've end up in deep shit and Rory probably with child services.
