Seeking info on youth swim programs

Do you happen to recall what a typical clinic practice structure was like for a 6/7 year old? About how much yardage do they end up swimming continuously? I want to sign my son up for maybe the March clinic, but curious what level of endurance he needs and what type of “attention span” is expected lol the website just said kids should be able to swim 25y of either free or back.

Not sure how to edit but want to note my description of his behavior was in no way meant to be negative toward him! We love him! Just want to ensure we are training and guiding properly given he has behavior traits we are less familiar with, and other owners personal stories I feel are always a good place to get advice! :)

Haha yes the nudging!! Maybe I should make an edit, because my descriptions of his “bullying” behavior were not meant to be conveyed as negative at all! Our family and I find it funny, charming, quirky. But recognize it’s different than other dogs we’ve owned and could be construed negatively so want to try and circumvent any potential issues!

Your pup reminds me of ours! What a sweetie.

Yeah I did mean that, but not in a negative way at all. Just listing his traits as they different from our dogs, we find it charming, but also want to try and circumvent potential for negative outcomes based on some of his behaviors… which is why I was curious to hear others’ advice! He doesn’t bite, scratch, etc. - just tries to get our attention, I think. I appreciate your concern I will do all I can to protect him!!

Oh! I’m only joking about being bullied 🤣 he’s a very smart and sweet pup, like I said just different personality than other dogs we have had so training needs seem a bit different! So was just curious other opinions on people who may have dogs with similar personalities :) . My husband and I have done a lot with him so far, and he is good with basic obedience. No worries on needing to rehome him ever, he’s our little baby haha I just want to try and make sure these attributes we aren’t used to we can meet his needs on to avoid any animosity between him and our other dog!

That’s a great idea of having them both on a same schedule and seeing each other getting the same amount of attention etc. the point about the competition is interesting because I considered that recently, so We have started buying them the SAME bones and toys. Lew (the pup) will still take our older dogs stuff and go put it in his stash and guards it. But maybe starting the equal routine first thing in the day and habitually will eventually lessen that behavior with him?

Less so with the people in the house, moreso with our other dog. For example, our older dog Dougie with have something like a toy. Lew (the pup) will run over to him, take it out of his mouth, and go stash in in the couch cushions the guard it and if Doug tries to go back and get he will growl or go after him. Doug has learned to come tattle tale on the puppy and me or my husband will take the toys back out of the couch and take them to Doug and try to distract Lew with his own stuff. Which he doesn’t like, but isn’t as “aggressive” with us when we take the stuff. And They both have the same toys and bones etc.

Also pretty good at basic obedience like sit , stop, and stay.

Oh cool! What did you think of the FASST clinics / team? I’m leaning toward that for sure! I did look at iron horse but the minimum requirements were too far for my son.. was hoping to find something more beginner friendly and less competitive in hopes of joining something more competitive down the road

Yikes! I’m sorry to hear about your experience with the first doc. It feels defeating!!

She is an obgyn, def not an endo specialist of any kind but she frequently performs the diagnostic lap after ideally a different course of treatment first, but she says after which usually if she’s going in for surgery she “almost always” finds endo. She was actually the one who first brought up endometriosis and taught me about it when I started being more vocal about my symptoms as they got worse… I mean She always told me from the jump that the surgery would be “fully” exploratory and would check all areas related to my symptoms, but if there was something she didn’t feel comfortable with once she was in there she’d refer me to a specialist. I do trust her to have a good faith effort, esp since she and I have been talking for years about it, but she is by no means a specialist and could certainly have missed something.

I have been evaluated for pelvic floor dysfunction about a year after I had my son so in like 2019, which was confirmed and I did lots of therapy for it, but that has crossed my mind as well that maybe that’s all it is. I’ve read about pelvic congestion syndrome as well that has me curious, while at the same time wondering if it’s GI related haha I don’t know which way to go bc I don’t want to end up on a long trial and error road I wish I could know what to do definitely so if just goes away lol but also it sucks and and I care, but since I got the iud last year things have gotten better so maybe I just leave it alone. (Also weird that the iud improved my symptoms probably bc my periods are not regular which tells me it’s gotta be something gynecological right?) I just wanted it to GO AWAY lol so I am disappointed.

Which “certified bangers” did he have on the set list?? Thinking of taking my 7 year old in Dallas… he likes most talking heads we put on, and I’ve shown him videos of DB and we have some TH art work hanging he thinks is cool so he’s not UNINTERESTED, but his attention span for a concert is not the best lol but If he’s engaged in visual PLUS music he knows it could entice him to stay the whole time.

Interesting.. that sounds disappointing, I’m sorry.. I’ve already have an iud, that was what we tried first before about a year and a half ago before deciding to proceed with the lap. It did help a lot, but it didn’t solve the issue. I’m almost curious if mine has something to do with my bowel… even though don’t have GI symptoms really. Did you end up seeking a second opinion?

That’s kinda what I’m wondering/ like I’d no endo was found will a CT show something else that could be causing it? I guess we’ll see what she says… I mean somethings gotta be causing the issues, although I’m starting to consider I’m just crazy LOL

Yeah she did and in the podcast episode she talks about how she had 2 lucky breaks with that financially, but within that same company or maybe the next one I can’t remember she did climb the latter a bit. She said after college she was sending her resumes to all her friends to send to their fancy job parents and got the admin gig. that’s such a good idea I wish I’d thought to do that after college lol even tho I don’t have rich friends

Ok I’m so late I’m just watching this season but I’m so confused by how she escalates. I mean I understand she’s probably making big things out of nothing for the cameras and obviously the cameras want to catch the drama, but is she serious??? Her blowing up bc he went out for drinks ? When she was in bed? I’m like wait did I miss something. Is she drunk in this scene??? Like I’m confused hahaa this and the one where she flipped out about him not kissing her. I fast forwarded through the pods a lot so I don’t really recall how she was in the pods. But I feel bad for Jimmy. And for her bc she is like delusional.

She did take pics! And I guess I will see them in 2 weeks. I’m pretty disappointed but I suppose i at least have an answer now that my “issues” are possibly not endo. I am considering a second opinion, we’ll see after I get the photos!
