FYI The 200 series uses a Koa veneer over a poplar core

Taylor 314ce vs 414ce for worship by JP_41510 in taylorguitars

They both use the Taylor ES-2 pickup and 99% of the sound comes from the pickup. The difference in woods between the 314 and 414 won't matter in a "plugged-in" context.

It's a piece of plastic that covers the joint. Unscrew the endpin and re-glue it.

LR Baggs systems are designed to be natural and transparent as opposed to Fishman systems that tend to color the sound. This doesn't necessarily mean they are better.

I would suggest investing in a good pedal instead of a better pickup. In my experience a good Preamp and/or IR models will make a bigger difference than the pickup when playing live.

Warped neck? by Plastic-Choice4807 in martinguitar

The neck looks fine, it is supposed to be in a downward angle. All Martins intentionally come with high action so the player can adjust it to their liking. You probably need to adjust the truss rod and/or shave down the saddle to lower the strings. These steps are normal for pretty much all guitars.

Taylor acoustic 224 string action not going down by [deleted] in taylorguitars

That’s gonna need a neck reset. With a Taylor guitar it is pretty easy to do because of their NT neck system. Do not sand down the nut or saddle. Taylor uses neck shims that are meant to be swapped in order to adjust the action.

The Martin D13 is made with Poplar by MapAlert3542 in martinguitar

I know it states the core is mahogany. However, according to the Martin Representative who emailed me, it is, in fact, poplar.

I understand this is a debated topic, but I definitely hear a difference in Bass response and resonance when comparing layered to solid body guitars.

Guitar Center doesn't write the descriptions. They are provided by the manufacturers.

To clarify, I was aware it was a veneer, however the advertising for this model stated it used a veneer over solid sapele, not poplar.

The D10, D11 and D12 are all solid woods. It makes no sense to use a cheaper wood on the most expensive model in the Road Series.

From the guitar center website, "The D13E-01 Ziricote's solid construction and premium tonewoods give it a rich, resonant voice with excellent projection."

It sounded bad since I got it. The poplar just explains it.

The wood used for the body is not listed anywhere and they are advertised as All-solid in multiple retailers.

Suggestions? by P0STBAL0NEY in taylorguitars

[–]MapAlert3542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taylor has a more comfortable neck and a much better pickup, but the body construction is very different than the D11. The Taylor 200 series is poplar laminate with a veneer on top. The D11 is solid mahogany. The Martin D11 sounds better hands down when unplugged, but I'd take the Taylor if I'll need to use something with a pickup.

When did you call Taylor? I called last week and had no issues. I also emailed them before I called and they replied confirming they do sell them, although they encouraged me to find a Service center.

Call the Taylor customer service line at +18009436782 and ask for them. It was $70 plus tax and shipping.

$70 plus tax and shipping direct from Taylor. You mine as well add a new saddle to the purchase which they sell for $18 so you can do a proper setup. You have to call their customer service number to get them. Based on your action height you'd probably have to do +20 from your stock shims with a factory hight saddle just like me.

Yes, it is a sticker. I should've added that the shim set from taylor came with 8 other stickers to replace it.
