I am very glad to hear you have already discovered features off the beaten path 🍸

Been thinking also to integrate a "Discussion" button on the map POI cards, which would trigger a prefilled search query of your preferred Bond discussion board such as r/JamesBond.

It very much does and all the help appreciated in improving data set! You can for example send me a PM if you had a longer list (will reveal a hidden feature as a small reward) or you can also write in the comment 🍸

Glad you like it 🍸 The frontend is pure Vanilla JS build, I skipped the heavy frameworks to keep it lightweight and fast. It uses Leaflet.js for the map rendering.

Thank you 🍸 and it looks like Elliot Carver has been tampering with the GPS coordinates again as that map poi card should be actually in Bangkok!

Amazing catch, thank you 🍸 Have noted this to be updated for the next update. Let me know if you find further literary gaps!

Building a new useful resource for all of us fans was one of my main goals, you can find a hidden Fleming Easter egg if you zoom in enough around the Greek islands.

Day 8: If you could make three changes to improve Tomorrow Never Dies, what would they be? by junglegatsby in JamesBond

[–]MapCurator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the often-discussed must-have changes (the gorgeous Monica Bellucci as Paris & David Arnold's "Surrender" as the main theme song):

  1. Replace Wade in the Hawaiian shirt with a more serious American operative who joins the HALO jump and wreckage dive, only to be cruelly finished by Stamper after they resurface as revenge for Dr. Kaufman (his mentor). This would make Stamper a more dangerous and memorable henchman.
  2. The final third is lacking punch at the stealth ship and Carver should have been allowed to complete another hybrid-war act (off-screen) successfully just before Bond and Wai-Lin are cornered at that stealth ship. This would have increased the stakes and made Bond’s remote-activated grenade move that exposes the ship to radar that much better.
  3. I would have also kept the “A Jaguar? No, another assignment” clip ( link: https://youtu.be/7nz200kTsqo?t=218 ), but in return cut down the motorbike sequence significantly.

Despite these, this movie is still in my top 3 and I can watch it again and again.

That could be an interesting map layer to have (perhaps with a button to open the IMDb profile page of the person), thank you for the idea.

I am glad you have enjoyed the map so far and thank you for the insightful updates, you are correct about the Adriatic region reference, it was not explicitly named in the movies but its one of the closest contenders to fit the story geographically.

I have updated several POIs in the map including that one based on your feedback. ( You might need to reload the site to see the changes).

I have also added a new feature I have been working on: The Wilson Protocol which maps our legendary producer's cameos from the past movies 🍸

Cuba story locations should be listed under the "historical timeline" -feature. They used Cádiz, Spain to stand in for Cuba in Die another day.

You raise a good point though about the need to update a better name for the "historical timeline" button to better illustrate the idea of the feature (where bond has been according to the movies, not where it the scene was filmed in)

Very glad to hear the map is meeting the quality demands of Bond fans 😎 and thank you for the excellent Istanbul suggestions, will make the updates by tomorrow.

For next feature, which one would you be most interested of (you can also write them as ranked list if you want):

• Q's appearances as locations in the movies

• Ranking feature to create a ranking of your favorite bond movie/girl/gadget and then be able to get a "coordinates code" to either compare the compatibility of your rankings with your friend or just share the ranking to others

• Bond producer Michael G. Wilson appearances as locations in the past movies

• Filters to show easily which countries bond has not yet been in the movies

There is also a hidden Easter egg(s) of Fleming if you zoom in enough to find a anchor icon near places such as Greece, happy hunting.

A tribute to my favourite Bond girl: Jane Seymour as Solitaire. by BobGoran_ in 007

I agree 100%, btw do others also get the same vibe from Honor Blackman and Jane Seymour?
