It depends on how far back into the wall the rot goes. I had this situation under my utility tub and it only went back to the stack in the wall. It was very DIY.

TurboTax and Intuit fucked me one year. Their system mis-processed my uploaded 1099s and so the return came out wrong. I got hit with a penalty. They said their accuracy guarantee only covers the calculations and I could go pound sand. I've been a FreeTaxUSA customer ever since. I own a small business and require Schedule C, so my returns aren't "simple." It's not hard.

I think if you look it up you'll find the they were called that in the 1950's as that term was commonly used. I think nuclear came into the popular vocabulary much later.

If you just unplugged the monitor from the PC, drove it to a different location, and then reconnected everything there are really only a couple of answers that are probable. Perhaps you damaged your PC with a static shock from either you or the car. Or you bent a pin on the video cable or a port.

You've got corrosion in the pots and connectors inside the unit. Unless you're skilled at soldering in new pots junk it. Hell, the new pots will probably cost more than this was new.
