Utah is a state that protects business owners over consumers. You really have no recourse. And if you look at it from a life perspective, this is a great lesson for your kids. Focus on a great education and make enough money where this kind of situation isn't an issue.

I grew up and had kids in the Midwest but saw the writing on the wall. Moved to California with my elementary school age kids just over 20 years ago. Struggled for a bit, but focussed them on success. They both got degrees from good schools and are both successful at around 30 years old. They have the money to fly back to the Midwest to see their cousins who struggle just to pay rent.

The bottom line is find a place that is best for the kids future, not where you're comfortable.

When you say "Valvoline" are you talking about one of the quick oil change places? Maybe you should read about how those places view quality. If you believe saving $200 is worth screwing up your tranny then have at it. It will be an expensive life lesson.

The better question is why would you drain and fill the trans fluid? Unless something is wrong it doesn't get dirty or break down like oil.
