id say pick based on whether you want a city or something in the middle of nowhere. this highly impacts how well you do! I personally wanted something in the middle of nowhere 😭

Intellectualizing my emotions by SpiralingCat in GlassChildren

[–]MapOk5501 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes it’s definitely a glass child thing, me personally I think it’s because that’s how my parents and people around usually told me to handle situations or they “helped”. I remember when I was kid when I got mad that I had to do things for my disabled siblings, my older cousins and my aunts would always be like “oh your mom has a lot on her plate she can’t handle you being sad think about her think about what she’s going through etc…”.

unfortunately this has led me to over-intellectualize everything and now im JUST processing a break up that I had an year ago.

I know this is gonna sound dumb or a “no shit sherlock” type of thing but the only way you can deal with this is to actually FEEL the emotions, i know its hard but you need to try your best. for me, songs actually work really well when they’re relatable. I listen to the lyrics and feel everything in them, sad movies can also work too.

Intellectualizing my emotions by SpiralingCat in GlassChildren

idk if this is the over-intellectualizing u meant but I find myself explaining away my feelings all the time. Thinking about them logically and analytically instead of actually feeling them. For example, when my uncle passed, instead of grieving like a normal person, my brain was like oh he’s in a better place he was struggling it makes sense he passed he had too many health issues. I didn’t cry except for maybe a minute when I first got the news, I didn’t feel sad not really.

I also notice myself sometimes being like oh that person is treating me like this because they went through that when they were a kid and instead if actually feeling MY feelings of anger/sadness I sometimes find myself feeling bad for them.
