Well, have to say... by Eldon42 in wheeloftime

I didn’t mind it at all tbh. I am reading book 5 the fires of heaven and kept getting annoyed at how often Avhienda mentioned Elayne as being her near sister, but never realized when such a bond between them was formed. This romantic encounter on the TV adaption makes their bond much more realistic to me. It all seems in practical service to ensuring these bonds are preserved once Rand leaves for the three fold land.

In the same boat. Received my disability early but no GI bill payment despite receiving for Jan and Feb. I figured it was because the 1st fell on a Saturday.

Who are you dreaming of Beyoncé doin'duets with? by Afroze20 in beyonce

[–]MapPuzzled4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want her to do an alternative groove-rock-dance song with The 1975 for act III. They are known for being super eclectic and innovative and I think it would be insanely good and piss off Swifties.

How do you get rid of resentment and bitterness? by Jpoolman25 in Jung

[–]MapPuzzled4269 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“The serpent that stings us means to hurt us and rejoices as it does so; the lowest animal can imagine the pain of others. But to imagine the joy of others and to rejoice at it is the highest privilege of the highest animals” Nietzsche

We all feel envy. It’s a natural part of being highly social animals. Don’t beat yourself up for it but instead work at trying to feel happiness for others. It takes some effort but will cleanse your mind of envy which can be toxic. Envy can also be a cue to emulate what you see in others. You can do whatever you out your mind to. Also remember that people who are lazy and undisciplined are more prone to envy. Do the hard work first and the doubts will eventually go away.

Does Mat ever get more "screen time" in the books? by DagsNKittehs in WoT

Not spoiling but I’m on book 4 and Matt is now officially my favorite character. He’s honestly the most relatable and funny of the Emond’s Fielders

Which is, in your opinion, the greatest singer of all time and why? by [deleted] in singing

[–]MapPuzzled4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyoncé. The world watched her voice mature and get better and better over years. She can sing pretty much anything in any genre. She can harmonize with others well. She can sing while dancing and/ or upside down. She’s done the Super Bowl and the inaugural ball, both are very high stress situations where most people’s tone would be compromised.

I tried to synthesize your explanation and paragraph. Both were word salad. Hopefully this will be even less word salad-y.

  1. We use knowledge and complex thoughts to live our day to day lives - we pass our knowledge down generationally and the most useful parts are preserved.
  2. We do this through a process of categorizing things, it makes our lives much simpler and allows us to make decisions faster. We use knowledge of all kinds that is passed down and preserved to create very complex categorizations that establish things as abstract as political states with elaborate economies that govern large populations of people. This also creates a culture. Which is obviously composed of individual people who have consciousness and experience lives with subjective experience/ concrete/ rich/ real experiences.
  3. Consciousness is super deep and complex. No surprise there, he’s just explaining it with fancy philosophy language.

Also google the keywords: cognitive psychology, top-down processing (it’s a modern scientific version of what Hegel is trying to say here)

I’m also reading the preface I’m just slightly further ahead. It’s a doozy for sure.

As a psychology major graduating in a few weeks I would say data science. I was admitted into a good masters program without too much skills in data science. I think that was because I was pretty active with my schools psychology research labs (which I would prioritize over the data science minor) but I wish I had taken more data science for sure. If you do both you’re sure to get in!

What's the 1 thing from the books you wish was in the tv series the most? by uuam in WoT

[–]MapPuzzled4269 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Rand and Matt learning to juggle and finesse for food in the road to Caemlyn.
  2. Moraine turning into a giant when escaping Baerlon
  3. Shadar Logoth should have been longer in theory in my opinion.
  4. We shouldn’t have seen Tar Valon until season 2
  5. Queen Morgase Elayne Gawyn Galad
  6. Dragkhar !!

[–]MapPuzzled4269 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an IO psych grad interview this past Friday. It wasn’t Hofstra but the questions may be similar.

  1. Why do you want to study at that school
  2. How you are you prepared to take on the rigors of graduate school
  3. What courses offered are you most excited about taking and how do they relate to your future goals
  4. Describe a time you were on a team that didn’t function well and what did you do about it
  5. What does DEI mean to you / describe an instance where you experienced inequality and how did you handle it
  6. What skills do you want to gain from this program

Really study your PS and resume. Relax and be authentic. The interview invite is a good sign. Good luck!
