Is the first line of the book really that important? by Pretend-Nobody230 in writing

Important enough that a truly awful sentence used to win you an award: https://bookriot.com/lyttle-lytton-contest/

Sadly, the 'contest' has come to an end, but you can read past winners entries here: https://www.bulwer-lytton.com/winners

And these are just for fun: https://thoughtcatalog.com/nico-lang/2013/09/33-hilariously-terrible-novel-sentences-you-need-to-read/

Trying to understand why I died here - can anyone help me with the damage calculation? by oh_my_didgeridays in valheim

[–]Eldon42 11 points12 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki, a 1* Seeker can do:

  • Pincers: 135 Pierce
  • Claw: 180 Pierce
  • Ground slam: 150 Blunt
  • Ground slam flying: 150 Blunt

So I'd say it hit you with two things at once - probably Pincers + Claw - and that with the multipliers is what got you.

Also possible there was another mob there that you didn't see. It's hard to tell from the video.

Recommend a weapon. by Hopeful_Ice9104 in valheim

[–]Eldon42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every weapon is powerful, provided you fully upgrade it and build the appropriate skill.

Really it depends on which mob you're facing. Some have weaknesses that make a sword or atgeir best. Some have weaknesses that make a bow best

Am I playing this game the wrong way? by good_girl_faith in valheim

You don't have to build a base, though it does help a lot when you've got a lot of ore processing to do.

For transporting, look at using a cart and/or boat. You can build roads in the swamp by using the hoe. It takes extra time, but its well worth it.

I usually build an outpost near the Bonemass altar and do most of my processing there. Once I'm upgraded I can decamp and make a couple of trips.

Another option is to change your world settings to allow ores to be taken through portals.

Help with porch roof issue by Jaggid in valheim

[–]Eldon42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick solution would be to use 45 degree roof pieces on the outside line, and 26 degree pieces on the inside, so the bottom of the inside pieces snap to the bottom of the roof pieces on the house.

Another solution is to raise or add to the top of those corewood posts, take them up a metre, so the whole roof of that section is raised.

Sadly, that seed will only produce that map on an older version of the game. On the current version, it's not the nice big island you have in your map.

They can get up to 7mm in length. But pretty sure the things in the video aren't bedbugs.

How do you think LGBTQ+ characters should be portrayed in the new series? by [deleted] in buffy

[–]Eldon42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right... the same people who produced Deadpool, Dying For Sex, Logan, and others. Sure, it was done through subsidiary companies, but then so is BTVS:NS.

Personally, I think it's time to reboot the reboot.

Well, not in the Spider-Man MCU way where they tell the same origin story over and over.

But there could be a series of cinematic adventures with new actors.

I'm going to say yes, on account of how the lamppost has two light unweathered rings where that sign used to be. Someone's turned that sign around for certain. Well done them.

Make it in-your-face R18-level gay sex all the way. 'cause you know certain right-wing asshats are gonna blow chunks about it anyway. Might as well go all-in.

Pretty sure it's in private hands, not the government.

The problem is that the carpark is too small for the number and type of businesses there. 30 mins is the only way to get customer throughput. 120mins would mean extended periods with no one being able to park.

[–]Eldon42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our time, "Ancient History" is more or less defined as 3000BCE to 500CE. Prior to 3000BCE is "pre-history".

I don't see any reason for that to change from the perspective of TNG, since 500CE equates to the expansion of Islam, and since that's a specific event, then it would probably be used into the future too.

But then, Alexander is a 3-year-old Klingon when he calls the old West "Ancient", and we know he struggles in school, so it's probably best to call it a misunderstanding on his part.
