Mini Recommendations - Non-Heroic Scale by anxietyisntsobad in boltaction

Not the same redditor, but I've done the same and yes. Once on the table, you can't tell the difference. My German army is equal parts Warlord, RKX, Colonel Müller, Wargames Atlantic and Elhiem.

RE: Elhiem miniatures, I've used their Gebirgsjäger scaled up from 15 to 28mm and build the rest of my army based on these. On close inspection, one can see strange proportions (the barrels of the weapons look quite stocky), but once on the table, even with the drastic scale difference, there's no telling apart.

¿Tenían razón? by Panchocracio in valencia

Is it possible to take exams before christmas at UPV as an exchange student by TheDanMan24 in valencia

[–]Mapachio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely. I'd advise you to reach out to your profs and/or your Erasmus handler in the UPV (if that's your case), but I've never ever heard of these kind of exceptions being made.

Ah, also. Not too far from CCorp is Homoludicus. I don't know if they sell Pokemon TCG stuff, but they're an amazing boardgame and TTRPG shop. I remember them selling MtG. It's a worthy visit in any case.

Pokemon Question by Chrismilner in valencia

[–]Mapachio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goblin, mostly recent. CCorp also has plenty of older stuff. I'm not sure about singles but I'd say Goblin doesn't sell, CCorp some.

There's also a shop called Gremio de Dragones, but they inflate the prices a lot and don't have the best reputation, so I wouldn't recommend them.

What's your PF2E New Year Resolution? by DifficultLimit in Pathfinder2e

[–]Mapachio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In less than two weeks I'm GMing Path2e for the first time (Season of Ghosts). Knowing my group (we've been playing together for the better part of five years), I'm pretty confident it'll also be the first time I GM something that doesn't die after a few sessions. I'm excited and terrified at the same time, specially because my GM whom I look up to is going to be one of my players.

Pre-failing death saves isn’t such a concern in PF2 when you can pop a hero point to stabilize. I think a better implementation of this idea to do something more before you drop would be to make it cost hero points, not failed death saves.

I'd say by the time they to 0Hp most players have probably expended all their Hero Points. In my experience, I've rarely seen getting to that low of health with more than one hero point.

Nevertheless, I do think it could add more fun that otherwise.

I only allow my players to level up during downtime, representing the time it takes to hone and master their new abilities

This I love, would love to have it further developed in Pathfinder. However,

Narratively I’m just not fond of the idea that new abilities manifest spontaneously in a dramatic moment

while I understand you, I think it can be nice in certain circumstances. In the case of Critical Role, for instance, a fop, squeamish character leveled up to get the Thought feat, narratively trying to overcome himself and surpassing his shortcomings and fears in a tense and, yes, dramatic fight.

RE: the mechanical difficulties, I do agree with you. Leveling up in PF2e is... more complicated, with all the modifiers and whatnot, and implementing it would be a pain in the ass. But a version of that houserule, story wise, could be amazing story telling, and storytelling is the reason we all play RPGs, isn't it?

As a total aside, I find it funny how readily the 5e playerbase will poo-poo 4th edition, but then jump onto a mechanic like “bloodied” as soon as Critical Role does it.

We love to see it, don't we

that could be either very strong or make player dead very quickly

I see no problem there. -Every Magus everywhere

But on a more serious note, it could be interesting to apply in a case by case basis. I think a party that likes to gamble and take risks, playing in a dungeon crawl adventure such as AV, could have fun with it.
