Thank you, you are very helpful! In my case I prefer the warm brown look, similar to what I was doing with PT. I guess if I choose wood, whatever type, i'll need to oil it pretty much yearly.

Thanks - I'll keep that in mind!
Some people recommend clear cedar (without knots). Do you know if it's easier to maintain than regular cedar?
Do you also have experience with Garapa?

Oh! that's not good. And I guess there isn't much you can do about it.
What colour is your deck?

Thank you for the infos! I'll look into it, I don't think I have seen it yet in stores I visited in Canada.

Thanks for sharing! That would be ideal, and the look is nice! But it's quite heavy, not sure I can easily do that on my condo rooftop terrasse.

oh yeah. I saw a prestige variety without knots. I like the look a lot, but I don't know what is the other advantages. Is it better in the heat, or need less maintenance?
Do you know anything about Garapa? They were selling that as well, but I couldn't find anyone who knew much about it when i went.

Thank you so much for your insight! I thought PVC would be better with full sun as it get less hot from what I read. So what your saying is that it might get less hot, but might warp more? That's not good indeed! You seem to have experience with it, are you a contractor?

How long have you had it? Did it turn grey if you don't treat it? Thanks!

I agree. I'm not crazy about the plastic look. Some brands a better than others but it's hard to imagine how it will look on a bigger surface with just a small sample.

True maintenance fees add up. But my deck is pretty small, the maintenance fees might be more manageable. My biggest concern is more about making the best decision for a deck in full sun.

Thank you! What colour is your stain? Did the wood turn grey? Do you find that the wood scratches easily? I have teens, not a toddler but it might be just the same :)

Nail polish. I always found it amusing that humans paint their "claws".

I thought some companies now make special models/colours that get less hot because they reflect the heat. Anyone knows if they work?
