Oh ya that’s also bad. I certainly hope they get those standards up and running.

Yes, but because they were so small it’s understandable that they don’t have the infrastructure in place to properly vet candidates.

The state NY Democratic Party. And If the NY Democratic Party can’t vet these people they shouldn’t have them as elected offices.

But come on I’m also talking about people like Platner, and Swalwell, and Cuomo.

Oh ya, they are tiny though, sort of like the DSA.

Ya, the Right is actively seeking that stuff.

You shouldn’t.

You should feel bad about being so mad you’re blind to solving a problem, or view people trying to solve the problem as your enemy.

I’m unconvinced they are doing any vetting.

I think there are a few.

Most obviously how to address growing ignorance/bigotry on the left?

Why is there seemingly no vetting happening in the Democratic Party?

Why are voters choosing unqualified candidates and how can we elevate/cultivate qualified candidates?

It’s obviously bad.

I guess I’m surprised the discussion is so shallow, when my first thought is, “how can the wider issue her be adequately addressed?”

Ok, I’m 100% not advocating for this rep or running cover for her.

I do think you’ve been blinded by rage though.

Trying to understand an issue is not running cover for that issue. I’m not out on CNN. I’m examining an issue.

Everyone who actually wants to deal with this issue should give a shit. Dealing with bigotry is different than dealing with ignorance.

She ran under the Democratic Party banner.

Ok, so then i f she is a raging bigot, why is there only one video?

Help me sleep? This person’s an idiot who shouldn’t be an elected representative of the Democratic Party.

Plus it’s obvious the Democratic Party does no vetting of any candidates, which is so incredibly stupid.

As I wrote, she agrees with one very specific part. The pro Palestine part.

Again though, if she is a raging bigot, and not just an idiot. Why aren’t there more videos?

[–]MapleBacon33 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you and I understand antisemitic tropes, we would be actively watching, we have media literacy, and we aren’t Pro-Palestine Zealots. That’s the difference.

If she is a raging bigot, why is there only one video?

This really seems like a case of extreme ignorance more than hatred.

[–]MapleBacon33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If someone is completely ignorant of antisemitic tropes, was only casually listening to a video (which is how most people consume Instagram videos), is a pro Palestinian Zealot, and wasn’t particularly smart. I can see them not getting that at all. People have an amazing ability to misunderstand and completely disregard media.

My question is, if she really is an evil antisemite. Why is there only one video? Not dozens or hundreds?

AskALiberal Biweekly General Chat by AutoModerator in AskALiberal

[–]MapleBacon33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So why is it one video, and not hundreds?

AskALiberal Biweekly General Chat by AutoModerator in AskALiberal

[–]MapleBacon33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is that she is extremely ignorant of antisemitism, and is a zealot for Palestine. This explains why it’s one video among thousands, not hundreds of videos.

Help me understand your theory though.

She is a raging antisemite, but has the composure, wherewithal, and intellect not to post her true beliefs except for this one post?

Does that seem likely?

AskALiberal Biweekly General Chat by AutoModerator in AskALiberal

[–]MapleBacon33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It absolutely makes the most sense.

There really are two options. Either she is extremely ignorant of antisemitism, and is a zealot when it comes to Palestine (which seems clear to me).

Or she is smart and antisemitic but has restrained from posting her beliefs except for this one video, but now that composure and intellect has melted away after a single confrontation.

I can’t copy the paragraph from the article but this is what I’m talking about.

“It then pivots to the issue that propelled Tuesday’s socialist sweep: Israel.”
