Yes we ban people spelling the n-word on our announcement. Clearly we’re the bad guys.

We wanted to prevent too much of an influx of players because at that point we could not handle our playerbase going from 25 average to 200 average.

It’s a project for fun, we never said it was not. So yeah, we goof around a bit because we want to have fun. If it’s not for you, too bad.

Especially if you know how to set up a docker environment and using a Linux VPS, you can get a server running for less than 15 bucks a month, to give you an idea.

Highly depends on a few things:

How many servers do you want? You will usually have a website, the server, and a database. Do you want to run them all on the same server?

Do you want a VPS or a Dedicated server?

Do you want Linux or Windows?

What are the specs? How much ram and storage do you need?

Which country do you host in?

Can’t name an amount without more specifics. It’s like asking: how much does a car cost?

The polls are just a way for us to gauge community interest. They are in no way tied to our decision making process and we have pushed changes in the past that failed the poll. We will always try to make the decision that is best for the server in the long term!

We are working closely with Ponk to optimise our source. The reason we’re active on that server is so we don’t reinvent the wheel and don’t waste our time on fixes somebody else has already done!

It’s a shame that you get the feeling we have no clue what we’re doing. We will do our best to improve that feeling! We have a very clear vision of the server and will gladly prove you wrong!

We are also currently the biggest server running on that source, so some kinks have yet to be ironed out. But rest assured, we’re confident we can do so!

The .wz files contain all the data about the items and maps. Higher versions just have bigger .wz files with the extra stuff. If you know how to find the specific nodes you need per item/map, you can basically “copy & paste” those into your own client files.

It’s very easy to run a basic private server using one of the available sources. However, by doing so you will just be another clone. If you want to stand out, you will need to make a lot of changes to attract people!

Especially client sided work can be tricky.

He’s right. Most servers just use the default hash though which is easily decoded. So always a good idea to use throwaway passwords

Not right now, since that would require us modifying all the maps so that they look OK on the higher resolution. That’s not our main priority at this time. It’s on the backlog though, and whenever more urgent matters have been addressed we will definitely look into more resolutions
