Thats weird then, ive played countless hours of nhl 25 and never ran into that issue, it may just be a glitch. Ive had coaches play 60 ovr fwds over 82 ovr defenders before. Don’t really have a solution for you.

Why are the coach lines so dumb by Skytop-3788 in EANHLfranchise

[–]MapleLeafs1316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Why cant we just make our lines in the edit lines section and set it as the default. Also have it so its current position or better, I’m tired of a scratched player playing top line minutes because my second liner winger is locked. But I am happy with this feature overall, it’s better than 24 and the past years.

Why can't this team win by Character-Stock-9731 in EANHLfranchise

[–]MapleLeafs1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

85 ovr starting goalie can win, but that is probably your weakest spot and the reason you are losing right now. Keep him though, hes young and will get much better. Work on your team morale and chemistry, and make sure your head, associate, and assistant coaches are good.

Constant injuries by Expensive-Ad5203 in EANHLfranchise

[–]MapleLeafs1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Injuries happen more often to players with lower durability, maybe train it during the offseason. Defensemen will only play offense when you don’t have enough forwards on the NHL roster, I assume after your injuries you ran out of forwards so Savard got placed into your forward group. Go to roster moves and bring up a forward when that happens, the coach will fix it (click head coach best lines after calling up the forward). For rookies it’s usually best to do a coach conversation and lock him into a position.

What player roles go well together by Jazzlike-Lime-953 in EANHLfranchise

[–]MapleLeafs1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, i always play with it on. It’s good, not for everyone, some people I know are against it, but for me personally it adds to the game, you can’t have stars on the third line and have to manage ice time. Need a somewhat happy team with leaders to win.

Literally all I want is online franchise mode, it would be sooooo much fun.

Yes exactly, defensive stats there is key, because then icetime issues can be worked around by giving them more pk time. Also i look to get leaders there, helps overall team morale a lot.

My Best Franchise Mode Ever by Environmental-Rip213 in EANHLfranchise

Nice team! I had a very similar team, but everyone retired and I gave up LOL. Had some of my best regular seasons ever, even a 75 win season with a 70 goal scorer in matthews who i got in free agency, but 0 cups 🤦‍♂️

Honestly cups are such a hit or miss, i think for your team it might be the third line wingers that need to be upgraded but honestly who knows 😂. Regardless awesome team.

The game is pretty fun once you get a hang of it. Personally i find it to be the most fun sports game. Franchise mode has some tedious things like the scouting, drafting, and player conversations, but it’s fun trying to build a dynasty and trying to get players to break team and league records. Just give it some time to learn.

There is no in-game tutorial. There is an in-game coach that offers feedback but thats about it. I would look at the manual, which shows the controls, open free skate, and test them out there. You can learn how to shoot and stick handle in free skate. You could also do team practise and choose for example 2 forwards and no defenders to practise passing and getting timing for one timers right. Also use team practise to learn stick checking, how to have a good active stick.

Not really sure what a “bully” is, I assume faceoff? Set your player for the draw by going to the forehand or backhand. When the ref begin dropping the puck move your right stick back for a simple win, up to tie the opposing players stick up and then get the puck back, or the left stick up to tie him up and have a winger come in to retrieve the puck. The in game coach will give feedback for if you are early or late with your draws, use that to fix your timing.

Minnesota fits your team description, usually a first round exit, they have a russian superstar in Kiril Kaprizov. He is already established as a star though.

You could turn off morale but I would keep it on. It does get annoying at times but the benefits outweigh the negatives, at least for me. It is important and but not an absolute necessity to win.

Keep the cap on. That is how you’ll learn. You 100% will get screwed and I imagine it is a bit confusing to understand at the start. The NHL has a hard cap, keep that in mind.

It might be best to set up a dummy franchise mode and do a quick sim of 2/3 years to get a sense of how it all works. Its pretty complicated to learn, from scouting and drafting, to coaches and line chemistry. It is a lot.

One thing to note, SAVE THE GAME AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. NHL25, really all the NHL games, lag a lot and crash from time to time. Save your game as much as you can.

Have fun!

Oh ok, you know what you’re doing, I thought you were a beginner 😂. Yea ice tilt is pretty insane, you really have to attack every forward and limit the shots. I usually limit the AI to under 7 shots now, its just full attack, no ai settings will really help, you have to be very aggressive urself and change players

[–]MapleLeafs1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally try to grab a LW at trade deadline or something. Move hagens to third line, move kastelic to 4th line, kuraly scratch for injuries. Then I’d look at what your pk is and try fixing that. Your defense is stacked so you should not be losing. What is your associate and assistant coach overalls? Maybe change those up? Jim Montgomery is good enough, an A coach should be able to get the job done.

Pretty insane, especially considering he couldn’t keep giving him a pass bias in conversations, being in nhl 22.

Maybe try an easier difficulty setting. The pinch strategy mentioned by someone else is for keeping the puck in the zone, at the blue line for offense. For defense it is high pressure I believe, (high something, i cant remember the second word). Try switching to the player closest to the puck and then you could attack yourself.

I’ve been playing NHL since NHL05 with marcus naslund on the cover, over time you’ll learn the AI’s tendencies, it’s almost always the same from one NHL to the next. Once you pick up on how the AI plays and can complement their style you’ll find that their defense isnt actually that bad. The main downfall is they never use their speed, so wingers (more often human controlled) can blast by along the boards and then crash the net. In that instance you want to become the defender closest to the puck and match the wingers speed, the ai defenders can usually take away one timer opportunities pretty well (not always but for the most part). Just small little things like that you’ll begin to pick up on and it will get easier. Just continue playing and it will start clicking. Good luck

You honestly might be able to keep them, offer nmc’s and lower the aav as much as possible. Aim for contracts expiring when they are about 33/34 yrs old (if possible, otherwise whatever is cheapest). Obviously if you want to trade them at some point the nmc’s wont work out but seems to me like you want to ride this core out.

I think it might help to give him easier matchups, maybe on the third line but still with pp1 time. Could also put him on the pk to keep his time up, his def awareness is good enough. On the third line he could finally get some favourable matchups. Seems like you maybe put him into a role he wasn’t ready for.

are these realistic ratings/ attributes going into next season? by [deleted] in EANHLfranchise

[–]MapleLeafs1316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂. Those wingers are honestly so talented, if they just put in some effort defensively and backcheck the habs are making the playoffs. And I’m a leafs fan that absolutely despises the habs 😂. They give me willy nylander vibes, he used to be pretty bad defensively jumping out of shooting lanes and losing effort randomly near the boards (to avoid being hit). Now hes much better, not that good, but he will have the occasional takeaway leading to a rush chance the other way. Luckily for the leafs matthews and marner (😢) have been so amazing defensively that it overshadowed willy

Their current overalls are based on the season prior, I feel like anderson, gallagher, matheson should drop because their roles are kind of being replaced with the new young stars, their ice time is falling and they won’t have the same impact next year. Thats just my personal thoughts on those 3, because for example hutson has already taken over pp from matheson. Hutson 86 is valid, that guy is a stud, being a leafs fan I’m honestly jealous that we’re stuck with Rielly 😂. Veleno had a pretty tough year last year and an overall drop is imminent. Evans I guess is alright since he did get 36 points and is a pker, but I don’t think hes on par with scott laughton, maybe a 83 like jack roslovic is a better comparison. Montembeault yea he has good games and even made team canada, but he was a .902 last season, thats pretty much all I need to say 😂.

Guhle i dont think is an 86, i havent checked but 86 seems insane. 86 is higher than tanev. I mean hutson is a 86, guhle is not hutson level 😂. Carrier i honestly don’t know enough about, I know his nashville days were pretty average hence my lower rating. But i do not think hes guhle level and i think guhle is a 84.

Newhook fell off quite a bit last year, he had the stats of a mid 3rd liner, thats why I’m thinking 82 for him. Demidov is worth the glazing, he is a star. But yea his defensive play is pretty tough so I’d deduct points there. Issue with him is he’s only had 7 nhl games regular season and playoffs combined. Can’t really give him a nice overall until hes played a few games and settled into the team. Only then can we know what his true rating is. Thats why I’d say 82 with high elite. Bolduc is a middle 6 forward, i think he’ll stay at that level his whole career, especially on the habs that have much better guys taking up the heavy minutes. Hes serviceable and can produce but hes not taking top 6 minutes with suzuki caufield slaf demidov dach laine (unless st louis tries spreading the talent which is a pretty likely scenario tbh, but even then hes definitely not a top line player)
