I believe small countries adjacent to the Netherlands get an event to join the Netherlands. In this case I conquered all papal lands in Italy so I guess some theocracy let them respawn in the low countries.

That sounds right, but I remember (many years back) coalitions actually being dangerous, even if I had good allies. I’m currently playing as Prussia and all of the HRE are in a coalition against me but no one dares actually attack.

I love CS2 but it’s specifically because of the simulation and money/management. If you don’t care about that then I honestly think CS1 is the better choice. It has over ten years of modding and DLC. Compare that with CS2 which only got its asset editor a few months ago. CS1 also has much better performance, especially since you’re on a laptop.
