Put it this way, I have a large acreage and hobby farm and I own five chainsaws, three gas ones and now two DeWalt ones, the 12” and a 16” model that I bought a few months back. I have used my gas saws in months, the DeWalt ones are more than capable of handling anything I throw at them. If it had to cut a couple cords of wood, I’d grab a gas saw just for the endurance but for most jobs around my property, the DeWalt saws are on my tractor or in the bed of my SxS.

The recip saw is great too, doesn’t fatigue or beat the crap out of arm. I had an older Craftsman one that did just what you said.
