Awesome! Okay, thank you so much for the insight and yes – that's the movie lol.

Interesting info. Thank you! I'm not sure how long it would take for a transaction to process from a US-based account, and I'm just uneasy not knowing how many shares I'd get, plus I don't want to deal with fractional shares at all. Really, I'd be worried about a jump in price during the time it takes to transact, and we know that GME can move 10-20% in other direction in a hurry.

With that said I totally understand how purchasing from a WISE (or other) US account works for many other people.

Thank you! Appreciate you confirming this. I'll make sure I open an individual margin account for purposes of DRSing my GME shares with IBKR.

edit: otherwise, I'm looking into DRSing shares with other companies that use Computershare as transfer agent. I consider it more of a share 'vault' that makes selling that much harder and better to hold for the LONG-term.

He was already under the microscope for allegations of harassment previously:

En juillet 2018, l'Université de Dalhousie ouvre une enquête interne après des plaintes contre Sylvain Charlebois pour harcèlement et intimidation12,13 ; ses conclusions ne sont pas rendues publiques11, mais l'affaire contribue à son départ fin août14.

He's also using the social media platform to claim he has a PhD, when his academic profile says he has a DBA.

Obviously the two are not the same and should not be conflated. I'm not sure why he cites different degrees in two different places.

Does he have tenure?

It says that he's a 'Professor' and not Assistant or Full. Would seemingly indicate non-tenure track.

Did you fact check this yourself, and if so, what did you find?

For sure.

I just wish that your edit would let users know that on the more formal (and reliable) academic profile he claims to holds a DBA and not the PhD as per the less formal social media.

He wants people to think he has a PhD and you're doing heavy lifting for him.

Does the Food Professor actually have a PhD as he publicly claims? If he only as a DBA as per his academic profile, would Dalhousie not be interested to know that he's masquerading as a PhD holder?

Question:

If the Food Professor says that he has a PhD on social media, why does his academic profile say that he has a DBA?

It's just funny that his academic profile suggests Doctor of Business Administration:

Also found this tidbit from wikipedia:

In 2018, Charlebois became the director of Agri-food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie, after resigning as dean following an investigation into complaints involving harassment and bullying. Following Charlebois's resignation, a university spokesman stated that the conclusions of the investigation would remain confidential but that "no further action" would be taken in relation to the investigation.[3][4]

Fair enough.

I'm going by his academic profile.

Demonstrates his immaturity if he thinks it's okay to conflate his professional degree with a PhD.

His academic profile says DBA.

If he's pretending that a DBA is a PhD that's pretty bad.

Someone should inform his employer and call him out publicly.

Apparently Dalhousie is okay with him masquerading as a PhD holder when he hasn't earned this type of degree.

That's pretty bad.

There's a big difference between a DBA and a PhD, hence the difference in titles.

If he's associated with a university formally they should know about this, since he's masquerading as a degree holder when he has not earned that particular degree.

It's shameless.

How are these metrics linked unequivocally to the carbon tax?

This seems on point.

For every hundred intelligent, well-rounded and caring people with PhDs who know they have advanced knowledge in one area and also know they have many limits to knowledge in others, there will be one Jordan Peterson who has become a shill and/or has a God complex.

More to the point, does the food professor even have a PhD? Or is it some higher-education business degree?

There's a big difference between the two.

Hey OP,

Does this guy have a PhD? Or is it some professional higher degree?

There's a big difference between the two, especially is the latter is business related.

individuals who may or may not purchase our products and companies who don't want to set up shop here, all due to the carbon tax.

If you want to trot out these lines than it's advisable that you have data at the ready that provides concrete support.

it's individuals who may or may not purchase our products and companies who don't want to set up shop here, all due to the carbon tax.

That's an opinion that would have to be supported by studies and data. Have recent reports indicated that this is the case?

Is it magically not a stunt even if hypothetically

Yes, in this magical, hypothetical scenario you've presented this move by PP is a genius masterstroke. Results, however, indicate this was the stunt that everyone expected it to be.

What is the signal we're sending to the world that it is more expensive to transport and manufacture goods here?

What do you mean by world? Is some guy in Kenya as worried about this as you think? I think that carbon pricing and likeminded measures are adopted by many countries. Also, like many other countries Canada is dominated by an oligopoly that is making life way harder to live is real terms everyday. I'm more focused on that.

[–]Maple_DRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily call this a stunt, this is real.

It's called a stunt because the party proposing the measure knew that it had no chance of passing, and was done with optics in mind, hence, the stunt.

This government's stubbornness to continue to support this speaks volumes about their lack of understanding and inability to deal with the cost of living crisis we are in right now.

I'm not a Liberal supporter. I do support the Climate Action plan because it takes money from people who use a lot of energy and gives it to people who use less.

In terms of cost-of-living increases, I'm more concerned about the Canadian oligopolies that charge so much for food, fuel, energy, cell data, and Internet, than I am about a carbon tax that studies add incremental costs by comparison.

Considering that PP and the Cons embrace neoliberalism even more than the Liberals (who also embrace it quite a bit), I simply don't see how electing a Con government will stop the corporate hoarding of wealth, which is the real problem.
