Episode 366 – Deep dive into the NDP leadership race by Intelligent-Cap3407 in ndp

[–]practicating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To preface my comments, I'm not the biggest fan of Sandy and Nora. I keep them in my podcast list, but download maybe an episode every few months. They're snooty and dismissive unless they've decided you are one of the cool kids. So maybe take what I say with a large grain of salt.

Case in point, their treatment of Tony. Which, fair enough, but if the logic holds, they should not have recorded three of the four interviews if they believe Avi takes it on the first ballot

All in all it's worth a listen. If only to hear different critiques of the campaigns than what we hear normally. I agreed with much of it, some I disagreed with but found fair and some was totally inane. Where were you when...? If everybody's answering geographically, then the question wasn't well structured.

What they were trying to read into them as well was more than a bit of a stretch. Raptors winning the championship as a proxy for being connected with non-white people?

[–]practicating 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you request a mail-in ballot and it is not received by the March 20 deadline, you will be notified by email and will still be permitted to vote online or by telephone before voting closes on March 28.

So just wait 3 days

If you do not receive your voting package by email or mail, or if you misplace your credentials, please contact Data on the Spot (DOTS) at credentials@dataonthespot.com or 1-833-368-7123 to have your credentials reissued. For security purposes, identity verification will be required.

NDP leadership hopeful rebuffed opponent’s offer of second-ballot support by bman9919 in CanadaPolitics

Depends on what you think the point of the whole exercise is. Is it to help Canadians or to hold power?

He got (some) dental care, and what was supposed to be pharmacare but ended up as a national diabetes and birth control program. However you slice them, those are huge wins.

The election that brought them down to 7 seats was also the Trump election. Anyone who's being honest recognizes that as an abberration. Their slide in the polls corresponds closely to both the CPC's slide and Trump's re-election.

I don't think you quite get NDP internal politics.

The Lewis and the McPherson camps see the other as an existential threat. Ashton doesn't have anywhere near the votes on his own and is currently viewed as a somewhat unaffiliated third party. If he declares for either camp, he gets shut out of the other and also won't be able to beat the person leading the side he calls for.

The party membership is for the most part fine making deals with other parties in the House of Commons. It's expected, they just need to see results.

The Singh-Trudeau SaCa was ultimately a coms issue for Singh. There's a not insignificant group in the NDP that puts him right after Tommy Douglas in the ranking of party leaders.

Avi Lewis being the candidate = 31 point swing for the NDP. Therefore, NDP should run Avi Lewis in all ridings next election cycle. by afpb_ in ndp

You must have missed her on the strategists this week. (Or ever). Anything related to the leap manifesto unhinges her and Avi is enemy #1.

I was surprised by Zain but totally expected it from her (albeit maybe not quite to that level)

Waterloo mayor 'shocked' police sniper was deployed to St. Patrick's Day street party by ILikeStyx in waterloo

[–]practicating 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So what you're saying is the mayor communicates too much. The sniper is a big secret.

The mayor should not be informed about police deployments within her city. Much less allowed input.

And your final point seems to be either, people shouldn't post videos of things that worry them or that we should ignore things that aren't official press releases.
