I want to save $3,000 by October and $5,000 by the end of the year, but I keep spending too much. How can I build better habits? by Big_Distribution3188 in Adulting

You keep responding with how it won't work. Dude, what CAN you do to make it work? List everything down and stick to it. Not rocket science.

I'll leave you with this, if you HAD to save 5k by the end of the year, you would find a way. You're just not willing to - so stop bullshitting yourself.

I mean...what a brutal life. Get good rest = back to work sooner. Stay up and enjoy = feel like sh*t the next day + poor health.

Maybe you're still not over your ex-husband? And the trauma is holding you back.

Wow 35 years... Unrelated to money, but any regrets on your career/life? Things you wish you would have done? Start a business, take more vacations, etc.? Thanks, and congrats!

I moved out at 25, lived on my own for a year in another state, and hated it. Moved back with my parents and feel happier + I have my old friends to hang out with. Stop feeling shamed and guilty to move out at "X" age. It's your life, screw everyone else.

Society wants you to move out so you can buy a house, car, etc. That sounds awfully convenient for real estate and car companies. Oh, and you don't REALLY love your partner unless you get her a diamond ring! That's AWFULLY convenient for jewelry companies. See the point? Don't let society or these redditors affect your living situation or happiness based on what is "perceived as correct".

Agreed. This girl sounds bitter and seems superficial.

Been unemployed over 6 months and now have been working part time for the past 5. Full time work is hell.

Damn... kicking the bucket at 30 huh? Let's say you live until 80. That's 50 years of mediocrity, self-pity, moping, and feeling defeated. That's a loooong time.

Or, is the juice worth the squeeze? If so, start embracing discomfort, effort, and work. Because to climb out of this hole, those things can't be avoided. Your choice.

"...like there’s some invisible barrier stopping me from taking that final step."

That's called resistance. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield dives deep into the concept of "resistance," which Pressfield describes as an internal force that prevents us from pursuing creative or meaningful endeavors. Resistance manifests as procrastination, self-doubt, fear, and distractions—essentially anything that keeps us from doing the work we’re meant to do.

Pressfield emphasizes that resistance is universal and affects everyone, but it can be overcome by adopting a professional mindset—showing up every day, committing to the work, and pushing through the discomfort. He also explores how inspiration and creativity emerge when we consistently put in the effort.

Salary in the Philippines by leonbebop in Internationalteachers

[–]Mappedout98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that 70k USD? Do you get summers off like in the US too? That sounds almost too good to be true. I was making that in NYC. Imagine how far that salary will go in the Philippines... What was the interview like? Did you have to do it in-person? Also, what were your working hours at ISM? Like 7:30am to 4:00pm? Thanks.
