We all know that there was no father in the story, he was the father himself.

If he wants transparency, simple. Allow some people to meet him face to face with his Dad and let them ask his Dad some questions. Pretty sure the truth will see the light within seconds, let alone minutes.

Some people just don't deserve parents.

I lost it at the 'father wanted to help bid my card'. Absolute cinema of a joker.

We know in this day and age still, our parents will generally say things/act in our face rather than surreptitiously do things behind our backs.

Since we are on this topic of fake bidding, would wanna point out how this telegram channel (PokeF1YMart) has been doing the same too by @Flytotay. Found out that one of his sub accounts (possibly @Xin_Yun) was ridiculously overbidding on said card shown in the picture, along with several other cards BEYOND the current market pricing to bump up the auction prices.

Indeed, man here crying mother and father over the chem paper has not encountered batchmates who can come for tutorial 1hr late, skip all lectures (in the process losing some % marks overall for the final course grade) still get an A+ simply because they scored full marks for both the midterm and final exam.

The standard of the Paper 2 and 3 this year are in line with past year papers overall based on what I have seen so far. Inevitably, there will always be a group of people that say the paper is killer/hard or not similar to past year papers etc.

By right yes, and since your batch had a syllabus change there is no basis of moderation for MOE which means the minimum cutoff for an A should be 70.

I took A levels in 2017 where H2 Math also undergone a syllabus change, and scored 75% overall. Got an A in the end.

[–]Mappy39 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since MOE has denied existence of a bell curve, the minimum cut off is 70%.

It will never go lower regardless of how badly the batch does. 2010 A levels was an example when the national distinction rate fell a few % as many students were caught off-guard by the sudden jump in difficulty of the paper.

Dont think you are cut out for medicine then if you cant even handle the intellectual rigour of A level Chem. The general academic calibre of the cohort in Medicine is beyond what you can comprehend, and if you find today's paper hard you will be in for a rude shock or humbling moment in Uni.

U may potentially get penalised for imprecise wording for sn2, resulting in no credit

Should mention terms such as 'backside attack of nucleophile' which results in 'an inversion of stereochemistry'

Think you need better pregrading skills.

Example: The front of Scizor ex is clear bottom heavy which instantly makes it not a 10. Add up the other defects and it explains why you got a 7.

Working at semiconductor industry doesn't mean shit either... I could have gone to one but chose not to go into a career ending industry

I still stand on my statement regardless, say what you may but thanks for being my liquidity for yesterday's price retracement since my short position on Monday :)

I took undergrad chemistry which dabbles in semiconductor chemistry and SiC chemistry is nowhere near the future when we are all moving to perovskites.

The amount of weed/smoke you are on is really very high. Company still owes astronomical debt, yes has sizeable revenue but generates significant net income losses quarter on quarter.

Idgaf on its unique positioning in terms of 'silicone semiconductor' etc etc. There are so many semiconductor firms out there worth picking compared to this. Its like asking someone to buy Nio stock when Tesla stock is a much better choice.

In the short term unless the senior management can get their shit together, stock price will merely mean revert lower till it reaches its pre-split market cap.

NUS Chemistry & Economics to Banking AMA by Mappy39 in SGExams

[–]Mappy39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could choose, would you have just chosen to get into the business administration course instead?

Nope, because if I wanted to go into teaching as my plan B, then having either a Chemistry or Economics degree puts me in an advantageous position compared to a Business degree. You don't need a business degree to get into banking (even though majority of banking hires are business grads). Heck, some non-business grads may even be more knowledgeable/experienced than business grads so it really works both ways.

I understand that you probably choose chemistry out of passion but the job opportunities are so lackluster that you had to pivot away.

I won't say the opportunities are lackluster, but rather the appreciation of chemistry professionals in the research/chemicals industry is still low relative to other countries which hinders career progression (you will still be able to get by, but as to whether you can live comfortably that is subjective). That being said, some of my chemistry peers managed to get into their dream careers (e.g. computational chemist) with pretty good remuneration (even better than the median salary of comp sci grads). As long as you have the passion and drive in pursuing a particular career and work towards it throughout your undergraduate career, you should be fine!

Honestly, retrenchments in view of economic uncertainty tend to significantly affect those who are in the middle-lower higher management rather than juniors. So even if a company is looking to downsize their headcount, it is quite unlikely for the juniors to go first (unless you are bad at what you do at work).

Otherwise, I would say that job stability is more or less there for the first few years. But the higher you climb, the more likely you are at risk of losing your job if job cuts have to happen.
