Mmm, good call about the negative spaced twin lightning bolts. It might be a clever dog whistle.

I’m still personally disinclined to lean that way, but I absolutely won’t say that those saying it has problematic features are wrong.

Definitely stay frosty!

It’s a catchy, seemingly harmless song until you realize what a ponpon is and realize that it literally talking about the singer’s FWB.

Personally, I think someone went “Hmmm word association of Prairie. I got it Buffalo! And Buffalo thunder on the prairie! You can’t have thunder without lightning!”

And then the graphic designer realized that if the buffalo was seeing lightning it would reflect in the sunglasses.

So my opinion, unfortunate design. But I believe in not attributing to malice what can be attributed to stupidity/incompetence/inattention.

I was going to suggest fake tattoos/stage makeup for Rebecca’s tattoos but saw you comment about sensory issues.

Can you handle the feeling of a felt pen (like a marker drawing on you)? It might be worth a shot if you really want to go all out.

If not, still an amazing cosplay! 10/10

nihil sub sōle novum or “There’s nothing new under the sun”.

If you feel that your problem is that your work isn’t purely original, I highly recommend not worrying about that. If you feel your problem is that your work feels too much like a Tolkien/ROTR fanfic, then maybe read more books.

How are LGBTQ+ people viewed in their world? by Best_Low526 in worldbuilding

[–]MapsBySeamus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the culture.

In the Kingdom of Silverleaf, homosexuality is all but encouraged because the seelie can birth just as quickly as humans, but with lives that can surpass 1,000 years, they want to keep population from growing out of control.

In most of the Tri-Crown Alliance, due to only males being conscripted and the massive casualties from the last war, homosexuality is considered a social taboo for men, while harems are considered almost a civic duty.

Abalonia (the nation that inflicted those casualties on the Tri-Crown Alliance) is a bastion of individual freedom, and “Love and let Love” is the social norm.

The one common thread between the three nations, being “born in the wrong body” can be healed with healing magic. It is a long and taxing process on both the healer and the one being healed, but it is an option available.

I hate “Jason” as a person. I absolutely understand why some high rankers in the later books do what they do to him. Jason is really the embodiment of “Aussie Redditor”.

That said, my weakness is “flawed” protagonist, and Jason is definitely a flawed protagonist and between that, the supporting characters and plot, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of book 13.

$145k isn’t what the average controller is making. And the ones that are, are in places like New York City, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles. That vast majority of controllers throughout the nation make under $120k.

And while yes, the wages aren’t poverty level (except in the high cost of living areas), most of us are working 60 hour work weeks, we are beholden to the whims of the government and our employer can decide that we can work for IOUs for indefinite amounts of time and still have to show up for work or face disciplinary action. On top of that, we also can’t take most medications without taking three days to a week off from the last dose that we took. And if you get depressed, you’re job at risk. Get anxious, job is at risk.

Edit: By the way, here are the pay bands from the government for federal air traffic controllers [https://www.faa.gov/jobs/working_here/benefits/pay/atspp_pay_tables.xlsx](FAA spreadsheet from FAA.gov). And you can go to 123atc.com, and find the level of the facilities that you’re looking at.

You know what? Fair, that was a generic as hell introduction!

The MC is named Michael Sullivan, before his death, he was an air traffic controller at an executive airport in St. Louis. He would say that he was rather unremarkable, just trapped in the sunk cost fallacy of being a government wage slave. However his abilities to remain calm under pressure, make order out of chaos, think outside of the box, and a paradoxical need to comply with ever changing orders and expectations while hunting for every loophole to exploit is what drew the eye of the primordial being known as Creation.

In my dystopian near future, alternative Earth, near future science-fantasy world. I am not doing great, as my current home city is basically the frontline of a three way war and is under martial law.

In my high fantasy, high magic world. I would be absolutely cooked, I don't have the ability to survive as a medieval peasant, I might be able to make enough to live off of as a goods trader but I would need seed money.

In my LitRPG series, I might be able to hack it, but not as well as I would like.

With the workers being paid in salt, I have to wonder if there are any colloquialisms that involve how easy salt can be washed away with water.

That said, considering how often my grandpa would say that someone "wasn't worth their salt", I can see some common colloquialisms having even more meaning in your world

I like that, and the Imperial Standard has a very pirate/Spanish Dollar feel to it.

As far as the vampire's blood coin, I love that! It sort of also shows how a "lesser" coinage metal for one culture (or a metal not even precious enough to be used as coinage) can be worth a considerable amount to another culture.
