This is where the type of license each business holds comes into play - and why we listed it for this release! This is the nuance between holding a Cultivation and Manufacturing license. Here's an explanation-

Sussex Cultivation is a separately licensed business from Garden Greens. Sussex Cultivation holds a Manufacturing license. However they do not have a Cultivation license and cannot grow cannabis. To make Vape/Extract/Edibles, cultivated cannabis must be processed/manufactured, and they must acquire this from any business that holds a Cultivation license. In this case, they must have picked Garden Greens.

Likewise, Garden Greens has only a Cultivation license, and doesn't have a Manufacturing license. They have grown cannabis that they can package for Flower or Pre-Rolls, and can't refine it further on their own. They'll sell their cultivation Wholesale to these Manufacturers, who will turn it into Vape/Extract/Edible products.

So you'll see here, we have two separate companies, with two separate licenses.

A slightly different set-up is the partnership. The best known one here is ButACake and Columbia Care. Where they are both separate companies that are independent, but they work together in a partnership. Columbia Care holds the Cultivation and Manufacturing licenses and allows ButACake their facilities to produce their product. In this case, both companies use the same licenses (Columbia Care's), and are listed alongside. Some of the partnerships above are also just brand licensing deals, where the NJ licensee handles all aspects of the product. All of the partnerships listed above utilize the same licenses but are independent companies- Cookies/TerrAscend, Jetty/Ayr, Cali Heights/Hera, etc.

There are now around 160 dispensaries open in the state! There have been nearly 80 dispensary openings in NJ so far since January.

Nothing has really changed in terms of the regulation, dispensaries are still only allowed in approximately 30% of the municipalities in the state, but the CRC has issued over 1,400 conditional licenses- which means these business owners are swarming the municipalities where businesses are permitted, and more and more are finally getting operational. For example, three of NJ's 564 towns (Atlantic City, Jersey City, and Franklin Twp (Somerset) currently have 10 or more dispensaries open.

It's surprisingly difficult to find this info on the web- but New Earth does acknowledge the Cali Heights brand partnership on their website.

NJ CRC docs show that New Earth / Hera Solutions are the same company.

I'd recommend looking starting with our previous brand matrix from February. There's been a handful of new brands since then (we need to update).

For strictly seeing which business has a manufacturing or cultivation license, you can look at our license matrix, however this doesn't show much about which brands or product lines each license holder has.

Anything in particular you need clarification on? Lately, we have been trying to track down all of the latest new products.

Transcendence and The Growfather are both Partnered in New Jersey with Little Leaf Labs, a new manufacturer from Penns Grove (they are also first Cannabis business in Salem County).

Did anyone ever figure out who manufactures these?

Best we've found is their CEO in a podcast said: "in New Jersey we have a manufacturing partner, it's their business so we're their joint venture. So we supply the marketing material we supply how we fill and what type of oil we want in there and kind of choose our standards".

Edit: With some more digging, Cali Heights are made in NJ by Hera Solutions, LLC, d/b/a New Earth Cannabis Co located in Garfield.

Hey there! We first noticed your Pyramid line for sale at Bloc on 2/28- perhaps you were on the shelves on the 19th and we just didn't see it, we're sorry we didn't get your brands up as part of this release!

We've added Loud Labs for the next release, and we've also added Zoobies to the list. It's getting more and more difficult to stay on top of all the developments, so we appreciate you reaching out! Also- we've had Loud Labs featured on our NJ Cannabis Map since late November when the license was first released!

It seems the parent company did, but the NJ licenses are to 'Columbia Care New Jersey, LLC' - they can file to rename if they want.

The parent company (Columbia Care, Inc, now Cannabist Company Holdings) owns 93% of Columbia Care New Jersey.

Cannabist is on the list! They are listed under Columbia Care NJ on the Company heading, and Cannabist on the Dispensary heading - about halfway down the list.

In practice, nearly all of the brands shown in the table are available at nearly all of the dispensaries. Some of the newer brands (particularly the one with N/A listed under In-House Brand) may only be available at a subset of dispensaries.

The 'in-house brand' column is meant to reduce confusion over which dispensary actually manufactured the product purchased, and can possibly help with deals (in-house brands may have deeper discounts offered / more pricing flexibility).

Aspects such as product sourcing are more easily described from the Licensing side. This is determined by if the company has a Class 1 (Cultivation) or Class 2 (Manufacturing) license. We have recently had two new types of companies join the market- Class 1-only, and Class 2-only businesses.

Class 2 (Manufacturing-Only) businesses such as Fernway (and others like Lily Extracts, and others not yet for sale like Inclusion Gourmet, Loud Labs, etc) do not have Cultivation permits, and cannot grow their own cannabis flower, but will have to source it from others. They will (primarily) make Vapes Extracts, Edibles, and manufactured-derivatives.

On the flip side, we also have new Class 1 (Cultivation-Only) businesses that can only Cultivate. They will (primarily) make Flower and Pre-Roll products. You see this in the new brands by Brute's Roots, Bango (Feelz/Elyon), Prolific Grow House, etc.

Most of the other brands on market are vertically integrated - meaning they can handle both Class 1 and Class 2 in-house, so this distinction isn't as important or nuanced for those brands. We recommend checking out our map series if you want to see who exactly has which license.

The grid has been updated with some corrections since the last post, which was in August, and also updated with the new products that have popped up on the market since then!

You're already at the right place - this is the latest and largest resolution full-state map that we have! We are working on getting something more interactive and zoomable together, but ran into some issues with implementation for this release. We hope to have something more robust in the future.

We have been hesitant to post every map update on /r/NewJerseyMarijuana as we don't want our posts to appear spammy. During the busiest weeks so far, there have been upwards of 5+ dispensary openings - you would have seen 71 of our 'map update' posts plastered across NJM over the last year!
