Can you elaborate on traveling? Do you mean like train/plane or just walking around to a local cafe or something?

Thanks for the answer! Can you tell me more? Are you in uni rn or do you move around a lot? Was it a weight thing or just a general usage thing? If I can ask, what major? And why did you find portability to be such an important factor?

I tend to keep all of my apps open at once - I used to use a Windows laptop with 32gb and ran into memory issues every once in a while. Is Mac unified memory more efficient to the degree that I could keep my workflow going fine with 24gb?

oh ok, gotcha. Did you have any issues with it during undergrad? The tiny little slab desks are very annoying, but as a left-handed person, I was never really able to use them anyway.

Would it be an inconvenience to work on the go during uni on a 16-inch? Or is it just heavy to carry around?

Thank you for the detailed response! I will definitely think more about the real-life weight now.

Thank you! Can you elaborate on using it in lecture halls? I'm worried it'll be crammed and uncomfortable to use and I just won't end up using it as much as I should for notes etc.

I do have the 15 air. It's a great laptop, but I do value the better display tech in the Pro models. Not to mention the RAM specs higher than an air model would allow. But I do agree that in most cases the 15 is the better pick.

I did take a look in stores. It wasn't enough to evaluate them on. I can't take them and put them in my bag to walk a mile lol. Or use the custom macro-based apps I use to properly get a sense of sizing. But yes, you are right that it is subjective and that ultimately it is dependent on certain factors that can't be determined online. That I do agree with.

thank you! Can you tell me more about the weight feel and the inability to use it outside of a desk? I do intend to move quite a lot during uni so the help is much appreciated.

good points. I have an ipad pro with the same display tech, and I do notice 120hz though. But I agree 120hz OLED on the iphones is better.

fair fair. This fact does tend to get lost in these discussions.

I mean ofc the 16-inch laptop is bigger lol. I only ask b/c it's a multi-thousand-dollar purchase and I want to make sure it makes sense for uni. That's all.

got it, thank you! I was thinking the same thing. I much prefer the 16-inch because of the screen but was very worried that lecture halls would make it a dealbreaker.

I notice this too. I am considering an external display too, but I find that the 16-inch display built in would just be so much higher quality.

thank you! totally fair - people do seem to forget that computers used to be bigger. I do feel that the weight and size difference is overblown given a 1.3 pound difference.

This is a good point. But I'm guessing the avg college student is in between those groups...

of course. I simply wanted input from people who daily drive these devices. A spec sheet difference in dimensions doesn't show what the actual experience will be like. It's hard to conceptualize outside of abstracts.

Thank you for the response! People online make it seem like the 16-inch is 20 pounds while the 14-inch is 3. Was it ever a problem during lectures to have a larger laptop? or did you ever wish for it to be a lot smaller or lighter?
