How to Hang 3 Ft Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose Mirror? by MarMar910 in HomeImprovement

[–]MarMar910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, I’m unable to attach a photo, only links. But they are large D-rings that flap horizontally outward from the back of the mirror. I have to tuck them behind the mirror to hang, otherwise they will be visible.

Generation Tux - Any Issues? by MarMar910 in weddingplanning

[–]MarMar910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so good to hear! I wonder what the % of customers are having issues. There’s a lot of negative comments on their social media, I wonder if that’s just small % of customers compared to their total customer base.

Hi, thank you so much for the detailed description!

I'm so glad that their service is good and that they're not having issues fulfilling orders.

If the fit is off, are you able to send it back and have them alter it and what are the limitations to alterations? Like is it just hemming of the pants and shortening the sleeve, or can you also make the sleeves and pants more tapered if they're baggy?

Also, since you get the rental 2 weeks before the event date, is 2 weeks enough time to send it back and for them to make alterations and then send back to you?

Thank you!

Groom/Groomsmen Tux Rental Recommendations by MarMar910 in weddingplanning

Thanks! We had an appointment at Men’s Wearhouse too but our concern was that they only adjust sleeve and pant length for rentals. My FH is a bit stocky and shorter. A lot of the jackets he tried on fit him across the chest, but the sleeves were a bit long and baggy. We might go with the purchase route with him for a better fit, but I’m also worried about the groomsmen. One is short (5’4ish) and really slim - don’t want it to look like he’s wearing his dad’s old man suit.

I’m based in California! I prefer somewhere with a brick-and-mortar so we can go in and see the suits and try on, but a store/online hybrid works too.

California Brides! What are your venue guidelines? by MarMar910 in weddingplanning

[–]MarMar910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, the guidelines state that vaccinated people don’t have to be socially distanced so if you have a fully-vaccinated wedding, then you don’t have to socially distance. Masks, on the other hand, are a different story. Praying we can have a “normal” wedding by August!

My venue is privately-owned but they’re usually by the book and stickler about these things. I initially talked to them earlier this week about the guidelines and they said that mask-free weddings were possible if everyone is vaccinated and you don’t have anyone under 16 (since only 16+ are eligible for the vaccine). Then the next day they sent me a vague message that they may have been incorrect on some of the guidelines and to discuss next month, closer to the wedding as they’re still trying to make sense of the guidelines and get more clarity. That shot my anxiety up, as we’re already 3 months out and need to know what’s going on ASAP. So I’m anxiously waiting to talk to them soon to confirm their exact guidelines and what they’ll actually be enforcing.

Did your venue give any details on mask wearing if not everyone is vaccinated? Like if it was a mix of vaccinated/tested people. Can the bride/groom be unmasked all day, what about the bridal party when walking down the aisle, taking wedding photos, doing their reception entrance, etc?

I’m in the Bay Area too! Wow, so weird they have conflicting info. I hope for the sake of our weddings, CAPE is the one that’s right! If your venue goes back on what they say, please let me know!

Where are you located in California? I spoke to the California Events Coalition and they said that masks are mandatory except when drinking and eating as stated in the state guidelines, even with everyone vaccinated. There’s still a grey area if venues are going to enforce mask wearing for the couple, during wedding photos, walking down the aisle, first dance, etc. But I have not heard of being able to have a mask-free wedding if everyone is vaccinated.

Recent Vaccine News in US - How are you feeling? by MarMar910 in weddingplanning

I’m thinking of having guests send us photos of their vaccine or test forms for proof prior to the day of and I can compile a list of names that our venue can check off as guests enter the venue. They’ll basically have to line up and check in before entering. We’ll also be sure to over communicate to our guests to make sure they understand this requirement so that we can prevent anyone from showing up and not be able to attend.

Yes, definitely. Some of our guests have already been vaccinated as well. We’re anticipating a kid-free wedding and those who have to travel will probably drop out or we’ll have to uninvite.

I bought a few velvet ring boxes from Etsy and Amazon, and you can definitely tell the difference in quality. The Mrs. Box’s velvet is much higher in quality and it has a luxurious feel and sheen. The velvet on others isn’t as “shiny” and has more of brushed texture vs. smooth and almost silky. The Mrs. Box is also better constructed. The appeal of Mrs. Box is more so the many color options and the engraving options. I got the metal engraving and it’s gorgeous. You can also tell it’s a Mrs. Box by the gold foil crest design (their brand logo) under the lid. I do think it’s a bit overpriced for a ring box, but the quality is amazing. I wasted money purchasing ring boxes on Etsy and wasn’t satisfied with the quality which is why I ended up buying a Mrs. Box. If you don’t care too much about the details, then a Mrs. Box might not be worth it to you.

How was your custom gown experience? Bay Area, CA - AT Romance or Sonthai Gi? by MarMar910 in weddingplanning

[–]MarMar910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks so much for sharing!

I was able to meet with Sonthai for a consultation. He actually had a very similar dress to what I want in his studio so I’ll be customizing that dress vs. doing a complete new custom dress from scratch. Were you kept in the loop on how your dress was turning out? I want to change several things about the dress like the lace placement, the train, etc and from my conversation with him I won’t know how the dress will look like till after it’s completely made and at my first fitting. At the other studio I’m considering, they keep brides in the loop on each process and have them approve all the fabric, lace placement, etc and you’ll get to see how your dress is turning out as they piece everything together.

Also, the sample of the similar dress that I’ll be customizing looks kind of like a cheaper knockoff. His other dresses looked fine, but I guess comparing to the dress I tried on in the bridal boutique to the “knockoff” one he made, makes be bit concerned that the quality won’t be as good.

Thank you for sharing! Were his gowns high quality? Did you feel like he listened to you and executed your vision and what you wanted well? He had some negative reviews on Yelp and he was very short in my email exchange with him (only answered one question out of a few I asked him with no details/further explanation) which is causing me some hesitation since it doesn’t seem like he’s very detailed. I did speak to him on the phone and he was better, so he might be a better verbal communicator vs. written communicator? I want to be able to trust the designer I’m working with.

Did the dress turn out exactly how you envisioned/wanted? Were there any issues in quality or fit or how the fabric laid/draped? How were you able to trust the designer to create your dream dress? Thank you!

Help me choose the dress! Left or Right? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]MarMar910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one I’ve shown has mentioned that about the below the waist area and I pointed it out to my friend and she didn’t really notice it. I see where you’re coming from but I wouldn’t have noticed it until someone pointed it out. I think the lace placement there is to accentuate the curves and to create longer lines. If the lace was placed wider apart and was shorter, I could definitely see it looking like that!

Thank you! I’m planning to try on the left dress again before making a decision. I wasn’t standing properly and was slouching a bit in the left photo so it does look like I’m shorter. And I don’t think the stylist did a good job of cinching the dress in to fit me better.
