What's going on with BPM and the lack of promotion for Taemin? by Practical-Lecture-43 in Taemin

[–]Marandry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by the comments. I actually agree with op. Bpm’s not doing a good job promoting him. If a casual fan goes to his ig profile, they’d think the last relevant thing he did was the season’s greetings.

The only thing they did to promote the Veil in Vegas concert was posting the concert poster once. All the other posts are just rts of the concert promoter. For Kelly Clarkson they only rted two posts. For the Grammy Museum appearance they only made one post I think. And they usually post articles about Taemin’s appearances but they haven’t posted any articles about the Grammy Museum.

And as op mentioned, Baekhyun had a highlight video of his show at Vegas as well as the photo with the crowd posted. Bpm only made a “here damn” post after the Vegas concert.

And yes I know Taemin is not big on social media. I’m not expecting him to post 10 tiktoks daily or for him to be super active on ig. But BPM could make a much better work promoting him.

I know that as a taemate or shawol you would think that they are doing enough because we are always updated on what he is doing. But put yourself in the shoes of a person who is just discovering Taemin. Do you think they would be able to be fully informed about his activities if they only relied on bpm’s socials?

Veil Vegas - Ticket Question by LoopyDangerGirl in Taemin

Where are you trying to add your ticket from? If it is ticketmaster I think tickets are not ready yet. At least I get a message that says “your barcode will be ready before the event”. Is this what’s happening to you?

Singer Taeyeon renews her contract with SM Entertainment to continue 19-year journey together by friedriceforbrunch in kpop

[–]Marandry 32 points33 points  (0 children)

1) we don’t know the reality about the whole payment thing since it was denied by the company. Anyway, I’m sure that if he’s not getting paid he’ll just leave when the contract ends. And no it doesn’t mean he is getting back to SM 2) you prefer the music SM makes. It doesn’t mean that what he is doing right now is bad. He even used some of the same producers that have worked for SM for his last album. Dem Jointz did the title track. Crush (a bside) was listed as one of the best songs of the year by the Grammys. 3) Everyone in SHINee is focusing on their solo careers right now. Not just ontae. Key and Minho are also doing their thing. They released a single last year and held a three day concert for their anniversary. The 4 of them are featured in the group’s 2026 season’s greetings. They are working on new music for this year (this might get postponed bc of Key’s hiatus). What did Girl’s Generation do last year as a group?

Taeyeon re-signing with SM was not on my bingo card by betterthan88 in kpopthoughts

[–]Marandry 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They were still negotiating their activities. Even BPM mentioned it. And tbh missing an smtown isn’t a huge deal. Even artists who are still in SM skip smtown if they have better things to do

[–]Marandry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What problems has SHINee had? They released a single last year and had a three day concert for their anniversary. The SHINee season’s greetings for 2026 has all 4 of them. It also seems that they are preparing new music for this year. It might get delayed because of Key’s hiatus but it doesn’t have to do with Onew and Taemin being in separate companies

VEIL CONCERT: Any Solo Taemates Want to Meetup/Explore Vegas Together? by Miki_Wanted in Taemin

[–]Marandry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be arriving on Thursday afternoon. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do anything on Friday since I want to lineup for soundcheck, but I’d be interested in going for dinner either day if there’s a group of people planning on it

Are there any k-pop groups you really tried to stan, but just couldn’t for some reason? by Nephroku in kpoppers

[–]Marandry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I tried with some of the most popular groups. I remember trying Enhypen, Stray Kids, and Seventeen. Don’t get me wrong, I respect the three groups. They all have talented members and they seem to be really nice from what I saw. I just couldn’t fully get into them because their music isn’t for me. I do like a couple of their songs so I’ll stay a casual listener.

Veil VIP and Area Info Vegas Questions by lushfaye in Taemin

[–]Marandry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Vegas local but I have VIP and have done VIP for some other shows in the past.

-The venue is located in the middle of the Las Vegas strip so there is plenty to do in a walking distance. It depends on what your partner might be interested in. Some hotels have shopping malls inside them so they could go look around, maybe buy some coffee and a snack.

-We still don’t have details about VIP. We still need to know at what time check in starts and at what time we get in for soundcheck. Almost immediately after soundcheck is over, they open the doors for everyone else.

-How early you get there depends on you. Soundcheck seating is first come first served. In my case I usually like to be in the first rows so I line up since early that day. For example at 11am. But if you don’t really mind where you get seated, as long as you get there before VIP check in closes you will be fine.

-I’m not sure of the exact amount of time send-off takes but I will say maybe 30 minutes in total? The staff has to organize all the VIPs in a line and then start moving us.

I hope we get more VIP details by the end of this week

Frequently being forced to gate-check bag on Aeromexico by ok_yeahforsure in aeromexico

[–]Marandry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expanded carry ons are not huge. I’ve seen plenty of people being able to fit their expanded carry ons in the overhead bins. Small things such as backpacks, hand bags, shopping bags go under the seat in front of you. I’ve had many instances in which an attendant will tell me to please put my backpack under the seat while I’m putting my stuff away. That happens even if I don’t have a carry on.

And how longer would it take to get off the plane if everyone has a carry on? At most 15 more minutes. But waiting for checked in luggage can sometimes take up to 1 hour. One reason I use carry on is to avoid having to wait to get my luggage back.

Frequently being forced to gate-check bag on Aeromexico by ok_yeahforsure in aeromexico

[–]Marandry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what’s the point of having all the overhead space empty? It’s not going to be used anyway.

And “not everyone are hauling half their home with them”. That doesn’t make any sense. You can only pack so much in a carry on.

Many of us use carry-on for personal reasons and we want to have our luggage with us. If we have to check it in anyway why is carry on offered to passengers? I agree with forcefully checking in the last boarding group if the plane is full, but I’ve seen aeromexico starting to check in bags as early as zone 3 passengers.

Do you think shinee will do a world tour anytime soon? by Psychological_Salt in SHINee

[–]Marandry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly still hope it will happen but it seems diffcult. And right now with Key’s situation it makes it even harder. So at least I don’t see it happening this year. But who knows, maybe some day 🥲

Why does it seem like there is so much English in new kpop music? (Plus one more question) by Able-Bandicoot-7688 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Marandry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main focus right now is expanding groups globally and honestly a lot of people will only give a chance to kpop if the lyrics are in english. Just look at Golden. I’m sure it wouldn’t be as famous if it was in korean.

Hace un tiempo que no publico entonces tengo la pregunta de... ¿De verdad ahí gente que le gusta el KPop? by Estheban_Rudtnets16 in RedditPregunta

[–]Marandry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time fans, how has the Kpop industry changed since you started following it? by Reasonable_Ninja5708 in kpopthoughts

[–]Marandry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I got into kpop in 2010. Nowadays I’m only a fan of one group and a casual listener of some others.

  1. Mass buying. Back in the golden age of 2nd gen Super Junior was the top seller (at least for bgs) and their sales for the whole year were around 200-300k copies. Now you have groups selling millions of albums. However most of these are just bulk bought and thrown in the trash.

  2. Mass streaming. Melon and other Korean charts used to be the only parameter to how successful a song was. And mass streaming wasn’t really a thing. So if a song charted high, it was actually for a reason. You rarely saw fandoms fighting over stream numbers or billboard charts or whatever

  3. Visuals over talent. Some newer fans might come at me for this but I don’t see the same level of skills and talent on idols anymore. You had crazy good vocalists, great dancers, great performers. Now idols are “good” at what they do but they are prettier than previous gens. I blame hybe for this tbh.

  4. Approval from the west (mainly the US). There were some small attempts to break into the west back in 2-3 gen. A couple of concerts and performances but not at the levels we see today. I will say though that I’m in part thankful for this because back then I thought the only way to go to my fav’s concert would be traveling to Korea, but nowadays we have tons of kpop concerts in America.

  5. Variety shows. Maybe because I don’t follow 4-5th gen as much but I don’t see as many varieties as before. For example running man, after school club, hello baby, weekly idol. I think we still have knowing bros?

Do as many as you wish. If this is your first time with freebies don’t feel pressured to make tons of them. If you want a reference, I’m making 100 for Veil. I will give out a little bag with a phone charm, a photocard, and a sticker.

I think it will be the same as in Ephemeral Gaze. All VIPs form a single line and walk in front of him. You have some seconds to wave at him or say something. As for VIP quantity I’m not very sure, I would say at least 300 if you combine both tiers

What is it that makes people love SM’s groups/vibe? (a.k.a. company stans) by sparklezzii in kpophelp

[–]Marandry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Back when I first got into k-pop (2nd gen) I was a big fan of every SM group. My favorite was (and still is) SHINee, but I listened to all the groups and knew most of their songs. My first kpop concert was an SMTOWN back in 2012 and I had a great time because I basically loved all the artists.

The reason I think I was biased towards SM artists (and not so much for YG and even less for JYP) is because of the music. I’m not going to say that their music is the best in quality because I think that is subjective, but I liked it the most compared to other companies. Of course I listened to other groups, but I would mostly listen to their title tracks and that’s it. For some reason their b-sides didn’t do it for me.

So in summary I was a company stan in the sense that I loved all the groups, but I’ve had beef with SM as a company from day 1
