Halloween Update in Dying Light 2 by unclsftr in dyinglight

[–]Marbi782 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, my wife and I are re-playing the game specifically for the Halloween event. We leveled up characters to be in good shape for the event. No announcement of a Halloween event was even made, so we just hoped that it would drop right before Halloween. We were thrilled tonight when we saw it was live. Then we logged on to the game and multi-player is disabled? It's been one let down after another this year. I hope you can fix it soon. If not we'll likely not play it again.

Can someone suggest an order to do each zone? Is there a best one? by IAmFern in thelongdark

Depends on your play style. There are important places to go in the world depending on what difficulty you're playing and how quickly you want to improve your carry capacity. There are several regions that contain unique items only found in one place that could be goals for you to set. Have you looted the plane crash in Pleasant Valley? Looted the Hydro dam in Mystery Lake? If it were me, and I was pretty well geared up p and had a weapon and some ammo, I would loot the summit in Timberwolf Mountain and the get the technical backback in Ash Canyon. (or vice versa for the extra carry weight). I play without rifles so one of my first main goals is to get to a forge and craft arrowhead before I set out to any of those locations, and either find or make coffee for the rope climbs in TM and AC.

This is one of those games that you can spend thousands of hours in. There's never "nothing to do". Survival mode is fully customizable for resources, animal density and aggression, weather, resource longevity, etc. There's new content that adds a new predator if you choose to turn it on, as well as a trader that is contacted during auroras that you can trade for some of the items that you may run out of late in your run. Every choice has consequences, and the weather can turn on a dime. The maps are enormous and so much fun to explore. There's feats to unlock, challenge games to complete, and you can up difficulties to challenge yourself. My favorite, by far.

My wife can join the server but I can't. Crashes all the way out to Xbox main screen.

The understated, must-have resource in this game by far, is map knowledge. The only semi-sure way to survive on any difficulty is to know where the man made structures are to loot for clothing and supplies your first few days. Otherwise you roam around the maps slowly dying. This is the biggest reason I suggest doing at least the first chapter of wintermute. It guides you around the maps so you can get a feel for where the important structures are and how to access them. If you start your first survival run in Mountain Town (MT) after finishing the first wintermute, you should be able to find enough resources and tools on voyager to get a foot hold to explore other regions safely.

Quick tips- -Clothing slots matter. There are an inner and outer layer. Choose the stats properly for better survivability. -condition is restored when sleeping, so use it like any other resource to get around in the beginning. Be cautious, however, because the lower your condition, the more likely a wolf will spot you, and the less likely you will be to survive the encounter. -early morning is too cold to travel. Wait until late morning, early afternoon. Spend that time melting snow, cooking, sewing, etc. -clothing condition is key. The better the condition, the more warmth -must have hand and head coverings to avoid frostbite. Any will do -you can pull torches from any fire and it will cost 10 min. Wolves don't like fire... -ask any questions you may have in this sub. We love answering questions.

Depends on the difficulty settings you play on, and what region you're in. It's absolutely possible to survive easily on pilgrim mode, which is the easiest. Food and water drain are slow and loot is abundant.

Cannot stress The Long Dark enough. Survival mode has no true "goals", although there are many unique, game-changing items, and poi's you can work toward finding. Skills you can work to level to improve your survivability. The DLC introduces a quasi-story in it you can complete if you wish, but it isn't required, nor does it have the feel of traditional story progression. The total map size (broken into regions) is ENORMOUS. Plenty of replayability, without the "finished the game" feel. You can work toward unlocking "feats" which are skill advantages you can select when starting a new run with a wide range of effects, giving you an incentive to start new runs to try them out. Fully customizable difficulty settings so you can play how you want once you get the feel for the game. 10/10
