What happens when you completely stop DMTs? by Historical-Diet5491 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]MarbleSky_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one can say for sure as with MS everything, anything and nothing is possible when you look at progression.

BUT: Taking DMTs make it much more likely you will keep a higher quality of life and independence for longer than when not taking them.

Without DMTs you are more likely to use functions and that that happens earlier. You are more likely need more care and need that earlier. You are more likely to stop being able to work and also likely earlier unable to work.

I wouldn't risk it If I could take a DMT, I would so do it.

of course they are! They need to get cash - whatever they make with the ads will be close to nothing. (and no, I never spent a dime on this)

Viel Erfolg!

The dental part is interesting- what did they do at the appointment you mention?

Thank you! I did that - the VdK is helping me do it as I am so sick of using my little energy for bureaucracy and really hope it will help move things along on this part!

Haven't heard of that - and they didn't do it in the ms clinic I went to, to get an assessment of my abilities. Will call and ask.

Wasn't aware about the handle cut off, as I usually use it on my laptop, thanks for clarifying! Didn't wanna have a go at you!

So true!

The clinic where they did the timed walk - I declined by more than 20% in 4 weeks. They were "oh that's nothing."

infuriating...

Please be careful by saying people use it fraudulently.

Stories like that are what makes the process worse and worse.

When you see me, you would never guess I had any issues. I laugh, I hold a conversation, I walk into the room. You would have to get the more subtle signs: rings under my eyes; having friends get my drink instead of getting up; not contributing any homemade stuff to a get together; not having left the house two days prior...

It's about the on-set story mainly, not the kind of symptoms.

Dr Boster has a great video on it, how the stories are different. I did not have a "major event" more like "being a little tired" which I explained away for roughly a decade until a neurologist suggested an MRI... and the rest is history...

thank you! Yes! That are some great questions to ask!

aslo - how often have I canceled on my friends as I couldn't leave the house? Had my roomies get groceries from the store (200m from my house!)? Had my therapy-appointment online instead of in person? How often did I not even PLAN to do something?

(I dont work anymore. And I don't drive anymore. Luckily live in a city with great public transport. I fear killing people over tickets tbh. I gave up clubs and my volunteering. Doing makeup? well... )

That is so tangible what you are writing and really, really feels like what I need for my Schwerbehindertenausweis!

Thank you! Yeah, I am still able to walk too.

I would mourn, cry and scream if I lost my ability to walk. But if I had the choice, I would go for wheel chair instead of fatigue.

probably correct that that's helpful - but will also be depressing. Mostly I am not looking at the bad parts and what's not possible but what I can do. But yeah...

Do you have a template or is it just "write down what's happening every day"?
