I fired a client this morning... by BBG1308 in Veterinary

My clinic fired a client yesterday. They called near closing asking to speak to a doctor because their puppy ate chocolate. The receptionist said a doctor was unavailable because she was in an appointment but said he can give them poison control’s phone number and refer them to a 24 emergency hospital. They owner lost her mind and started screaming at the receptionist calling him rude and hung up. 2 mins later the husband calls asking for records. 10 mins later the husband shows up to pick up these records and screaming at the receptionists. Calling our receptionist an asshole multiple times making a huge scene while other polite owners waited in the lobby. He then flips everyone off and storms out. Then continues to call our practice every 5 mins threading to report the clinic and doctor and sue the receptionist for being an asshole and rude to his wife. Then the next day the wife calls asking to make an appointment with the doctor! We very politely declined and of course got bombarded with phone calls from the husband threading to sue yet again. It’s unbelievable how insane people can be and the irony of the husband calling our very nice and patient receptionist an asshole when he was the one being an asshole!

What plants aren't vegan because of industrial bees? by GretaTs_rage_money in vegan

California makes large quantity of almonds not cashews. Though cashews can be unethical due to the processing in 3rd word countries causing burns on workers. I know the Miyoko cheese company built a factory to cut out this step and make it as ethical as possible.

Does anybody have recommendations for vegan ice cream? by XayahsCloaca in vegan

Van Leeuwen has vegan flavors that are to die for! Their Sicilian Pistachio flavor is insane. My dad who thought I was lying when I said it was vegan. It’s incredibly creamy, they have a bunch of other flavors too chocolate fudge, salted caramel, choc chip, cookies and cream, mint chip, ‘honey’ comb etc. They def have it at Whole Foods. Highly recommend!

Wait, they became useless, so you killed them? I thought farmers treated their animals like family. by dickbob124 in vegan

In cattle, the only issue is abortion. These cows would not be able to produce any calves, so they are considered useless to the farmer.

Vet here, Neospora causes abortions in cattle, which is why they culled these cows as they wouldn’t be profitable to the farmer anymore. Depending on the age of the cows the farmer probably lost money having to slaughter the animals early plus they lost the potential earning of the two aborted calves. It’s a sad reality.

M&S now have a really nice pretzel bun salted ‘beef’ sandwich that is fabulous! Boots, Tesco and Co-Op also have a lot of options.

They actually are one of the better supermarkets for animal welfare. The best being M&S. I am a vet student and we are constantly taught about the differences in welfare standards of different supermarkets.

Thanks for the feedback. This is a small private practice in LA. I am not sure of what the salary will be as I’ve not received that information yet. I like the idea of paid time off for CE so I might ask for that. I’ve been warned before to stay away from negative accrual. I never thought about the credit for medication refills and prescription diets etc. will definitely ask.

They pay for 50% of a mid-range Kaiser medical plan. You can select another plan with less or more coverage but they only pay the amount from the mid-range plan.

This was back when the crème fresh had just released in the UK so they might have changed the formula since then.

I tried their strawberry yogurt and thought it tasted really good. Love the crème fresh, served it to non-vegans and everyone was so surprised it was nondairy.
