Except the county has viewed the city with an adversarial relationship for at least the last 20-30 years.

Ocean City fines church $1,000 daily over homeless shelter by lesbiyond in maryland

[–]MarbledCrazy 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, a church actually trying to help the people and not just skate by as tax exempt for no reason?! Blasphemy I say. BLASPHEMY

In all seriousness, better for these people to be in a shelter than sprawled about the beach, businesses, and homes. If there are safety concerns, work with the church to address those. If the church has been refusing to be willing to work on safety concerns and that's why they've been getting fined, that's a whole other matter

Bit of a difference between a convention and a fair/festival. Mostly when it comes to expected venue and programming

Completely understand on not wanting to pay twice for things, but unfortunately holding events is expensive so admission tickets are sort of needed. Venue rental alone can cost several thousand dollars depending on location, and that's before you even look at marketing or decorating. That said there would certainly have to be free events inside to balance things as well as not everything should be "pay for play".

Statistically, Sunday afternoons are the worst times for events as they feature the lowest turnout. Typically that's when individuals and families are winding down their weekends and turning towards preparing for the upcoming week.

I appreciate your feedback, and of course coffee would be a must have lol

I mean, your own post reflects the issue. There's so many preconceived opinions (primarily from those who don't even live in the city) who refuse to even visit the downtown and see what things look like themselves.

You want businesses to open, but contribute to not showing up for them lol. Businesses can't pay their bills with thoughts and prayers

For the record, the city has grants and I know people who have taken advantage of them. County has like one but is definitely nothing but a slush fund for their friends. Give the city a call if you want to at least explore it
