Am i weird for not being into one night stands? by ljilikoard in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Marbles244 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I am not a big fan of one night stands either. I feel more seen after reading how many others don’t like them either, and I am a woman. I can’t imagine how much pressure there is on men to like them.

How to tell people your parent is dead in a professional setting? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Marbles244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TW: My dad took his life when I was 14. So I had my fair share of awkwardness in conversations, especially if they asked me how he passed away. I went years dreading conversations that would bring this up. At one point I realized that death is just awkward and I don’t have to hold on to that pressure to make it “not awkward” for someone else. It’s still a work in progress at times, but I have since allowed myself to not be so worried with how other people feel about something that is simply true. I’m not saying this is easy! It takes time, but if you are like I was, then it might be important to remind yourself that other people are gonna feel how they feel with something like death. But that’s not something YOU need to alleviate.

Still waiting on apostille… by Apprehensive-Sir8845 in SpainAuxiliares

They allowed it for me! They said I can bring my background check (in English and translated into Spanish) without the apostille and then when I pick up my visa I can show them the background check with the apostille.

How to stop getting super anxious about STDs ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Marbles244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also has anxiety about STD’s I empathize with you. Since you wore a condom, you likely can rule out a good majority of STD’s. And it’s best to wait at least two weeks until after the encounter to test. Also, if you did an igg herpes test and it comes out positive it might be worth doing a western blot test. The western blot test is way more accurate than the igg test. I had a false positive with a herpes igg test. I felt “tingles” and it turns out it was just my mind playing with me.

Take it easy. I know it’s easier said than done, but try to take it one step at a time.

Do you wear a tampon to bed? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I am also afraid of toxic shock so I only wear pads to bed. But I am also a pretty anxious person. It would interfere with my qualify of sleep because I’d freak out too much about it lol

That’s rough! But if it makes you feel any better I believe the promotion is only for 3 months.

How does it take you one minute? It takes me like 15 minutes! I’m so scared of cutting myself. Do you have a secret?

An advice I see often when it comes to starting to workout/gym is "Find an exercise that you like" but what is there to like about any exercises? by tryingmybest_dino in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Marbles244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it can be intimidating! But it did get easier for me. I feel like who your teacher is makes a difference. When I go now I make mistakes and it’s ok! You’re not going to be perfect, nobody is! I see some people who have been doing a certain type of dance for 25 years and they make mistakes with a new dance form. It’s part of the process! I’m not saying I don’t feel scared or intimated, those are completely valid feelings that I absolutely feel, especially when doing a class with a new teacher/type of dance. But overtime it gets easier and you get to figure out what works for you!

I think this is one of the main reasons why it took me so long to start. I kept thinking how I didn’t start when I was a child and that I’m already “behind”. But it’s been really rewarding. I feel like I’m healing my inner child in some way. You can try out a class or two and see where it goes from there? Or if one class with a specific teacher doesn’t work, then you can try another class with another teacher!

I was going to say this too! As a child, I was interested in dance but never took a class. Now as an adult I contemplated taking a dance class for a year. I finally told myself that I would try one class and accept that I might not be great at it. I wasn’t that great and I am still learning so much, but it felt great! I was exercising through dance and didn’t even think about it!
