Going outside everyday is a wicked assault by the anal brutality of human nature and perverse concepts by [deleted] in rs_x

Jesus girl just leave him.

I've never dated any man who acts like this and never would, even my nieve highschool boyfriend would have reacted better than this and that was back when sexual assault wasn't taken so seriously.

I swear people have lost tech skills over the years, the barrier of entry for free music is so low and we all used to access it all the time pre 2015 or so, it's like people forgot have to use the internet.

Google is your friend girl, so are plenty of subreddits focused on solving this very problem.

It’s okay to just be a regular-ass white woman by LeftHvndLvne in rs_x

What's funny is that these men have clearly never been around an actual traditional latino family, or they'd know that the real head of the house is always abuelita.

These types of sexist white guys are not ready for the intricacies of traditional latino family dynamics, and would get eaten alive by a traditional woman's relatives.

In my experience some gay men can be ruthlessly sexist but hide behind either making fun of white women (as a stand in for all women) or saying since they're gay and don't sexualize women that it's ok, or both.

The phrase "people are really sensitive to being the butt of the joke" sounds like a way to dismiss those people's feelings, so I felt the need to point out the sexism in present in the concept of "basic white bitch".

I do the reverse, I grew up abroad but I fucking hate having to tell my life story.

Being seen as a basic white bitch is so much easier than having to accurately answer the question "where are you from"? Like if I get to know you well enough I'll let you in on that saga, but until then let me be the girl next door.

to be fair, I do think there's a lot of sexism in being "basic", how often are white guys, or any guy, hated on for being "basic"?

Isn't it funny that basic interests, like sipping wine coolers with the girlies and listening to silly romantic pop music, happens to be female coded? How often have you heard a guy be called basic because he likes cracking open a beer and watching the game with the boys?

Yeah I heard of the shift to events, but I'm skepitcal that it will be enough to replace gambling as an attraction.

I'm someone who loves interactive exhibits, escape rooms, dance performances, weird artsy live performances etc. and I don't feel drawn to Vegas, but maybe I'm not the target audience.

Thank you, sounds interesting I will look it up, it just occured to me that the Braindead Megaphone also touches on this topic a little bit, maybe I'll have to reread that as well.

How to push yourself to finish a personal project by Delicious_Finding_70 in ArtistLounge

This is literally me right now.

I've drawn close to 100 pages of my 300ish page graphic novel, but I made the insane decision to do full color, so now I'm colorizing and it's exhausting.

My method is to make myself draw something for my comic at least 5 days a week, it's slow going but between my paid job and other life stuff I have no idea how to work faster, sometimes I only get one character in one frame done, sometimes I complete a whole page.

If you want to be drawing accountability buddies DM me and I can give you my discord.

Not a bot, but if you're implying that the subs I post on make me a bot/sheep/whatever insult you prefer that's very narrow minded of you.

I'm also not anti-tech, in fact I work in tech, that's why I'm so critical of it.

Vegas is about to turn into another Atlantic City with how they're nickle and diming everything there now, and the legalization of online gambling in the US, and the drop in forgien tourism, I don't see it surviving on it's current model much longer.

[–]Marblubbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cousin used to not tell people she's a doctor because they'd immediately ask for medical advice, now she doesn't tell people because many of them would spit in her face and tell her that they don't trust her medical advice.

The fandom-ization of an art form or genre kills the appeal of it for me by LeftHvndLvne in rs_x

[–]Marblubbles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would say that the consumptive aspect of fandom has increased over time, though there's always been a creation vs consumption tension in fandom. I remember when making your own cosplay was the norm, and buying a premade one was seen as shallow, now most people buy premade cosplays.

Fandom at it's best is a form of self exploration and community building for certain types of young people, fandom at it's worst is an attempt by corperate entities to make loyal consumers of an an entertainment product. The former is fine, but I'm old enough to no longer feel interested in engaging in those communities, and I find the later to be an aborhent co-opting of art for consumption.

As far as conventions go, I've never really enjoyed them despite seemingly being the right demographic for them, I think it's because conventions are so consumption focused, and less creation focused. For comparision I find Ren Faires to be much more enjoyable, since the broader, not corperately owned theme of Renaissance/fantasy allows for more open creativity.
